Image copyright problem with Image:Pujari Laldas.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Pujari Laldas.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me, or ask them at the Image legality questions page. Thank you. Shyam (T/C) 15:21, 31 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Image Tagging Image:Vinod Khosla.jpg edit

This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Vinod Khosla.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then there needs to be an argument why we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then it needs to be specified where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, consider reading fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other media, consider checking that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Image legality questions page. Thank you. Shyam (T/C) 17:33, 2 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the article or have a copy emailed to you. --Unpopular Opinion (talk) 10:10, 2 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of William Ganz edit

A tag has been placed on William Ganz requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

Copyright problems with William Ganz edit

Hello. Concerning your contribution, William Ganz, please note that Wikipedia cannot accept copyrighted text or images obtained from other web sites or printed material, without the permission of the author(s). This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://www.dotmed.com/news/story/10729. As a copyright violation, William Ganz appears to qualify for deletion under the speedy deletion criteria. William Ganz has been tagged for deletion, and may have been deleted by the time you see this message.

If you believe that the article or image is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under the Creative Commons Attribution/Share-Alike License (CC-BY-SA) then you should do one of the following:

  • If you have permission from the author, leave a message explaining the details at Talk:William Ganz and send an email with the message to permissions-en wikimedia.org. See Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for instructions.
  • If a note on the original website states that it is licensed under the CC-BY-SA license, leave a note at Talk:William Ganz with a link to where we can find that note.
  • If you hold the copyright to the material: send an e-mail from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en wikimedia.org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the CC-BY-SA and GFDL, and note that you have done so on Talk:William Ganz.

However, for textual content, you may simply consider rewriting the content in your own words. While we appreciate contributions, we must require all contributors to understand and comply with our copyright policy. Wikipedia takes copyright concerns very seriously, and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. Thank you. JohnCD (talk) 16:08, 13 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

I am using non copy protected press release from the hospital where dr. ganz worked!!!!!! user:sameerb if other news agencies copy it why cant wikipedia have it? since when are press releases copy protected ?

  • It is not enough to assert that this is "not copy protected". Publication in Wikipedia requires much more than just permission to reproduce - you are making an irrevocable release under the CC-BY-SA and GFDL licenses, see WP:Copyrights#Contributors' rights and obligations and the bottom of every edit screen. The copyright holder must follow the steps in the warning notice above if the material is to be accepted. JohnCD (talk) 16:17, 13 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

user:sameerb if other news agencies copy it why cant wikipedia have it? since when are press releases copy protected ? Please dont cite other news articles which used this same press release as a source for their article as an evidence of violation

  • A press release permits anyone to reproduce, but as I said above Wikipedia requires a more general release than that. JohnCD (talk) 16:45, 13 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

please see , http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:FAQ/Copyright, press release falls under fair use exemption

  • That does not seem to me conclusive - Wikipedia:Non-free content doesn't explicitly mention press releases; but I have posted a note on the article talk page to say that you are making this claim, which an admin will consider before deciding what to do. Please post there a link to the press release, because I have only seen this material on a website bearing a copyright sign. JohnCD (talk) 16:45, 13 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

January 2010 edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. The project's content policies require that all articles be written from a neutral point of view, and not introduce bias or give undue weight to viewpoints. Please bear this in mind when making edits such as your recent edit to IPad. You may also wish to read the introduction to editing. Thank you. Uncle Dick (talk) 23:25, 27 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

See my previous point on the same issue. -- Eraserhead1 <talk> 23:26, 27 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on IPad. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions on a single page within a 24-hour period. Additionally, users who perform several reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. When in dispute with another editor you should first try to discuss controversial changes to work towards wording and content that gains a consensus among editors. Should that prove unsuccessful, you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection. Please stop the disruption, otherwise you may be blocked from editing. Uncle Dick (talk) 23:29, 27 January 2010 (UTC)Reply
