Managing a conflict of interest

edit

  Hello, Samcherry5. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the page Draft:Craig Jones (Royal Navy officer), you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the COI guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your COI when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Dreamy Jazz 🎷 talk to me | my contributions 13:54, 31 May 2019 (UTC)Reply

Hi Dreamy Jazz talk to me Im trying to find out how I use a COI template. Do I need to disclose my sexuality if im writing about someone who is gay (as I am?) I think there may be a suspicion that Im a paid contributor, but other than my sexuality I have no connection with topics I edit (im certainly not paid) Im currently carrying out research in advance of the 20 year anniversary of the armed forces change in their code of conduct. Conflict of interest question

edit

Hi! When responding to a COI question, it's sufficient to clarify that you do not have a COI with your interest in the topic. In this case, conducting research for the 20 year anniversary. Be aware that anything you post is permanently accessible to anyone, including other disclosures you've made for which you've simultaneously expressed your belief that the disclosure should be unnecessary. WP:Privacy policy discusses this in more detail. As for the article, I see you've added a considerable number of sources and resubmitted it for review. Good luck!
