UTRS Admin Request

'Allo! Could you please take a look at UTRS 19601. Admin action is requested, however I feature prominently in the appeal so I should probably side step this one. Cheers, --Jezebel's Ponyobons mots 19:03, 31 October 2017 (UTC)

Thanks for pointing it out Ponyo. I don't login to UTRS daily so I might not see these as quickly (which is why I asked for mailing list notifications but unfortunately I'm no programmer :p). I've   taken care of the ticket. Please also see Wikipedia talk:Unblock Ticket Request System#UTRS shortcut now exists on how to easily link to UTRS tickets via direct interwiki linking or template. :) Ben · Salvidrim!  19:24, 31 October 2017 (UTC)

No problem. A quick trick I use when I come across an unfamiliar wikijargon is try to go to the WP:(xxx) page, usually that leads to finding out what was being referred to. :p Ben · Salvidrim!  17:47, 20 November 2017 (UTC)

Deletion of my User Page

Hi, this is Roberto1205. I know recently you deleted my page because it wasn't used in the correct way. Is there a way I can make a page for that just to mess around with? Is that what the Sandbox is for? Thanks. -User talk:Roberto1205

Hi Roberto1205! Your userpage was deleted because its sole purpose was to host a lengthy page of baseball statistics. Wikipedia is not a free web host, but if you would like I can e-mail you a copy of the contents of the page so you can host them elsewhere (just Google "free web host" and you'll find plenty of more appropriate solutions). Hi, the article was WP:PRODed, which means the only reason it was deleted was because its deletion was proposed, and remained unopposed. If you wish to oppose its deletion and have the article restored, a simple request at WP:REFUND will be fine. :) Ben · Salvidrim!  13:41, 21 November 2017 (UTC)

Arbcom case request notification

You are involved in a recently filed request for arbitration. Please review the request at Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Case#Mister Wiki and, if you wish to do so, enter your statement and any other material you wish to submit to the Arbitration Committee. As threaded discussion is not permitted in most arbitration pages please ensure that you make all comments in your own section only. Additionally, the guide to arbitration and the Arbitration Committee's procedures may be of use.

Thanks, TonyBallioni (talk) 19:39, 21 November 2017 (UTC)

Case accepted

You were recently listed as a party to a request for arbitration. The Arbitration Committee has accepted that request for arbitration and an arbitration case has been opened at Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Case/Conduct of Mister Wiki editors. Evidence that you wish the arbitrators to consider should be added to the evidence subpage, at Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Case/Conduct of Mister Wiki editors/Evidence. Please add your evidence by December 15, 2017, which is when the evidence phase closes. You can also contribute to the case workshop subpage, Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Case/Conduct of Mister Wiki editors/Workshop. For a guide to the arbitration process, see Wikipedia:Arbitration/Guide to arbitration. For the Arbitration Committee, Kostas20142 (talk) 19:42, 1 December 2017 (UTC)

  Guideline and policy news

  • Following a request for comment, a new section has been added to the username policy which disallows usernames containing emoji, emoticons or otherwise "decorative" usernames, and usernames that use any non-language symbols. Administrators should discuss issues related to these types of usernames before blocking.

  Arbitration

  Miscellaneous

  • Over the last few months, several users have reported backlogs that require administrator attention at WP:ANI, with the most common backlogs showing up on WP:SPI, WP:AIV and WP:RFPP. It is requested that all administrators take some time during this month to help clear backlogs wherever possible. It should be noted that AIV reports are not always valid; however, they still need to be cleared, which may include needing to remind users on what qualifies as vandalism.
  • The Wikimedia Foundation Community health initiative is conducting a survey for English Wikipedia contributors on their experience and satisfaction level with Administrator’s Noticeboard/Incidents. This survey will be integral to gathering information about how this noticeboard works (i.e. which problems it deals with well and which problems it struggles with). If you would like to take this survey, please sign up on this page, and a link for the survey will be emailed to you via Special:EmailUser.

ArbCom 2017 election voter message

Hello, Salvidrim!. Voting in the 2017 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 10 December. All users who registered an account before Saturday, 28 October 2017, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Wednesday, 1 November 2017 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2017 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:42, 3 December 2017 (UTC)

Eeeeh, I was first! It's actually kinda reassuring to know we're tripping over ourselves to stop this kind of shit. :p And yea, I was gonna just block TPA as well when I realized the block expired in 3 days, so... maybe it was even worth an indef but I guess we'll know next month. Question

Hi Salv! Hope your Sunday is going well. Quick question somewhat related to the case, but not really sure it would go there. Did you have any contact with Janweh64 regarding Himanshu Khagta? I'm only asking because it looks to be the only AfC article you've accepted since July, and it was also by a declared paid editor. Not an accusation at all, just a question since the answer might be relevant to the case. Thanks in advance. TonyBallioni (talk) 23:40, 10 December 2017 (UTC)

Thanks

Thanks for closing that UTRS case. SQLQuery me! 01:07, 12 December 2017 (UTC)

Marcus Belby redirect

Thought I might drop a thank you note for putting up Marcus Belby redirect for discussion even if you disagree with it rather than simply revert my edit. Not many people think that if something is put up for deletion, someone feels like there is something not quite right with it, which needs to be resolved one way or another.

Best, 95.234.102.81 (talk) 13:18, 14 December 2017 (UTC)

I don't actually disagree with its deletion, it's just that it doesn't fall under any of the criteria for speedy deletion. :) Ben · Salvidrim!  17:46, 14 December 2017 (UTC)
Yes, there's a bunch of different ways to have a page/redirect deleted. It so happens that the {{delete}} template is the only one I could recognize. Thanks! 95.234.102.81 (talk) 18:31, 14 December 2017 (UTC)
No problemo. "Due process" isn't always very intuitive around here. :p Ben · Salvidrim!  18:32, 14 December 2017 (UTC)

Please come and help...

Should MoS shortcut redirects be sorted to certain specific maintenance categories? An Rfc has been opened on this talk page to answer that question. Your sentiments would be appreciated!  Paine Ellsworth  put'r there  18:13, 14 December 2017 (UTC)

I know the community has decided againt but I still think we should either make MOS a namespace or trash the mainspace MOS PNRs... I fact I hate all PNRs -- make them work properly as namespaces, or don't use them, but don't hackney them into weird mainspace titles. Ben · Salvidrim!  18:31, 14 December 2017 (UTC)
Thank you very much for your candor, Ben · Salvidrim!, and Happy Holidays!  Paine  11:00, 16 December 2017 (UTC)
I can see in the discussion I'm not the only one thinking that but I've got other cats to whip right now :p Ben · Salvidrim!  19:12, 16 December 2017 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Virus: It is Aware, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page PlayStation Magazine (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's that time of the year Ben. No fancy template, but just wishing you all the best for the holidays and the new year. Definitely colder up here than most of the rest of the world. Hopefully you don't find my "fancy template" too garish or ostentatious. :p Ben · Salvidrim!  04:54, 21 December 2017 (UTC)

I'm not one for fancy templates either, but thank you for your wishes and certainly no hard feelings. Yeah you mucked up, but it's nowhere near the end of the world that some are trying to make it. Help?

Hi! Is there a Wikipedia template for non-profit membership advocacy organisations?

I don’t code at all and I also don’t know how to structure information because my brain is like that dog from Up! and despite being fairly knowledgeable (in some really weird and niche areas the necessity of which I am uncertain) I am not formally educated (although due to my professional experience in certain areas I qualify for a Masters in Law specialising in Legislative and Statutory Interpretation, Constiutional Law, and Industrial Law at the most prestigious university in my country, which is both weird and cool, and not something I’m ever going to attempt).

Okay, so, as demonstrated above, I can communicate in English, but a template of some sort would be very helpful in forcing me to structure the page.

Any other tips or ongoing support would be greatly appreciated, too!

Not that I specifically know of, but it can often be useful to look at how articles about similar subjects are built. :) Ben · Salvidrim!  05:52, 25 December 2017 (UTC)

Happy Holidays

  Happy Holidays
From Stave one of Dickens A Christmas Carol

Old Marley was as dead as a door-nail. Mind! I don’t mean to say that I know, of my own knowledge, what there is particularly dead about a door-nail. I might have been inclined, myself, to regard a coffin-nail as the deadest piece of ironmongery in the trade. But the wisdom of our ancestors is in the simile; and my unhallowed hands shall not disturb it, or the Country’s done for. You will therefore permit me to repeat, emphatically, that Marley was as dead as a door-nail.

So you see even Charles was looking for a reliable source :-) Thank you for your contributions to the 'pedia. ~ MarnetteD|Talk 23:45, 24 December 2017 (UTC)

Conduct of Mister Wiki editors Proposed decision

Hi Salvidrim!, in the open Conduct of Mister Wiki editors arbitration case, a remedy or finding of fact has been proposed which relates to you.  Please review this decision and draw the arbitrators' attention to any relevant material or statements. Comments may be brought to the attention of the committee on the proposed decision talk page. For a guide to the arbitration process, see Wikipedia:Arbitration/Guide to arbitration.
