Topic Discussion edit

1.Michael Kors--Sagew (talk) 21:08, 24 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

I have been looking into MK as the topic, what I found is similar content to MK page on wiki.
1.In order to edit it, we can add things like ,his personal life
(Concern over this is that the source is based on stories, or gossips, not sure if it is reliable).
2.We can talk about his role as a judge on" project runway" Tv show.
   3. Meanwhile, we can include his contribution to the fashion industry, and his role as a benefactor and the overall brand history.
 Pros and cons:
1.Concern is that the sources might not be reliable if the majority we depend on are all taken from Internet.
( Note, most of the celebrities resources are taken out of contents, or even gossips.)
2.And there is a possibility that wiki takes down the page or partial contents if the source is not trustworthy.
   3. Good thing about this article is that Wiki clearly indicates the necessaries of adding extra information.

2. New Girl--Sagew (talk) 21:08, 24 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Considering New Girl as of the topic, the following contents should be addressed and added to the wiki page:
1.There are no summaries for each episodes.
Since there are 17 episodes in total so far, the main task will consist of summarizing episodes for this section.
2.We can also link more information to the production section, things like the original ideas, the team behind it,
     the purpose of the show.
3.The general summary for the show is brief.
4.For the cast section, it is necessary to work on adding more attributes to the main cast members.
5.In the end, it is necessary to inscribe peer reviews and critics related to the show.
  Pros and cons:
  1. In terms of looking for reliable sources, the storyline of each episodes are what we mainly based on.
  2. Be aware to be subjective. All edits should be based on the show without personal reviews.

Editing Feedback edit

  • plot

For my work on the plot section, what I found is missing in the original piece is that the contents is rather brief introduction.I sense that the pilot is where the main frame of the show happens. Also, it is an episode where the producer introduces all the main characters. Thus, I started my editing with the pilot. First, I add more details as I was summarizing for the pilot.Later, I work my way through as to introduce other casts. Rather than simply indicates their name and job, I felt it was necessary to claim their personalities and their charisma.Specifically, Schmidt is atypical from the rest of the group. Considering the case in real life, each one of us all has different characteristics to represent who we are. Though, the show is fictional, I felt the need to include the personalities regardless just to differentiate each one of them.In a way, people get a sense of it is a sit-come comedy show in which and what the actors play as and in achieving what results. As writing for Wiki, I avoided to be wordy.Since it is encyclopedia, people who read this needs the information to be more general than sophisticated. The topic is more entertaining than professional field of writing. The choice of words occurs to me sounds more "young" than formal.Overall, my plot aims to summarize the details of the pilot, and more about the characters. Avoiding from overachieving, I only discuss the pilot. Anything else is covered in the section of cast and characters and episodes' summaries. --Sagew (talk) 08:34, 28 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

  • Assignment summary:

This project is fun to work with. Not only it helps us to understand the amount of work needed to be done behind the Wiki team (though we use it everyday, it has never occurred to me that a page needs such amount of work, thank you Wiki!),it also helps us on the understanding of using diction , tone , structures in varies field.Wiki writing is quite different than any other research paper we did for this course. Though they are all about writing, the writing techniques you know differs when you actually do the work.Wiki mark-ups are cool,in a computer science way.Sandbox is like a playground where you have all these tools and tricks to entertain yourself with.Meanwhile, communication is important for this assignment as well. Whoever is the team leader needs to work through with his/her teammates on the aspects of time management, understanding tasks, communication skills and so on.It is time-consuming, that is why the time management comes handy.Overall, the assignment is entertaining. --Sagew (talk) 15:38, 29 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

How is everyone's part coming along? Any feedback or questions? I wonder if it is possible that you can finish by tomorrow so that we can review each ones work? Thanks in advance.--Sagew (talk) 06:42, 26 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Can you guys all keep a list of references for convenience? Also, the website called "aceshowbiz" is not good, it is in Wiki's block list. Apparently, they have ran into problems in the past time.--Sagew (talk) 06:46, 26 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hey ladies, I just posted the summaries for the first four episodes... When I have posted them all, feel free to change the content. Let me know if you decide to change anything. I would like to be made aware of any errors I made. Also, I cannot figure out how to do footnotes. So could someone please add those for me? I have included a list of the sites that I referred to. Also, at the end of a sentence with the cited information I have indicated which site I retrieved the info from in brackets. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sndradee (talkcontribs) 14:04, 26 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hey teammates, Can you guys all post the parts to the sandbox and be aware to sign with you signature at the end of each paragraphs once you finish them. Cheers!--Sagew (talk) 20:00, 26 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

I finished all my posts for the Wikipedia page. Feel free to look them over and provide me with constructive criticism! I will be making one more post regarding my editing process (how I edited the sections that I was in charge of, what I changed and what I added). Good luck with your sections!

p.s. My posts are all on the sandbox page. --Sndradee (talk) 23:17, 27 March 2012 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sndradee (talkcontribs)

Hey guys, just to clarify one thing, I don't think you can copy and paste the contents with minor fix from the original page as your own work.(If you necessarily feel that there are no need to edit the content, you may leave it unchanged). However, the marking is based on our process(communication with Wiki) and your editing work. So, there are good chances where the contents needed to be written with more details. Also,if you copy things directly from other websites that is plagiarism.I guess you may do so with a link directs to the page. --Sagew (talk) 05:20, 28 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hey, I looked into all the parts, the characters summary for Schmidt and Winston , I am keeping the way it is.Since the parts are similar to the original contents.--Sagew (talk) 05:40, 29 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

All the works have been posted and made to the original article.I did review all the works, if I missed something, please feel free to make the changes. --Sagew (talk) 06:44, 29 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
