Can you explain in your own words what it means to violate copyright policy and how you did so? Danger (talk) 20:51, 27 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Sachinsuroshe (talk) 11:00, 29 October 2011 (UTC)If a content is already published by a writer and it has a copyright then copying and publishing such content and also refering it as one's work is violating copyright policy. I am new to editing in wikipedia. I edited the article partly by my own and partly refering text book and tried to edit in my own words. I just copied the same sentence as given in the book which I felt important. So, I think due to such activity I violated copyright policy. Can you please tell how to check on our own whether the edited article violates copyright policy?Reply

Request reason:

Sir,I am sorry for violating copyright policy. I assure you that I won't commit such a mistake again and check the content before adding. I want to contribute to wikipedia editing so please remove the block put on my account.

Accept reason:

I am unblocking you as I am prepared at this time to believe you did not intend to violate copyright. See further notes below. Elen of the Roads (talk) 22:53, 29 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

While I am prepared to accept that you did not intend to violate copyright, you should read WP:COPY and WP:COPYVIO. Simply, if you want to quote what someone else says, you must "put it in quote marks" and use a citation with the quote showing who said it and where it was published. See WP:CITE for more information about citations. You also have a problem at File:SACHIN.JPG (see top of this page) as you have not said whether you created this image yourself, or copied it from somewhere. If you scanned in a page from a book, then the image is copyright and you need to say where you got it from, if you created the image yourself then you need to say that on the file page. Please take care in the future. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously, and further copyright violation will result in another block. Elen of the Roads (talk) 23:03, 29 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Sachinsuroshe (talk) 08:24, 30 October 2011 (UTC)Thank you sir for giving me a chance. I will take care next time. And sir the image has been drawn in paint by me but the original concept comes from the book. So should I give my information or information of the author? Sachinsuroshe (talk) 08:37, 30 October 2011 (UTC)Also I am still unable to edit on my sandbox. What should I follow to start editting my sandbox?Reply

It seems that Elen of the Roads intended to unblock you, but forgot to, so I have unblocked you. I hope you can get on with constructive editing at last. JamesBWatson (talk) 14:18, 30 October 2011 (UTC)Reply
