Signature colors

edit

Hi. The username in your signature is difficult to read due to low contrast with white. Please read the policy for signature appearance at WP:SIGAPP. In particular, the Note where it discusses contrast and recommends a contrast ratio of at least 4.5:1. Contrast ratios for the colors in your signature's username, as of this edit, are:

  • "LawnGreen" - hex code #7CFC00 - contrast ratio 1.3:1 -  N
  • "LimeGreen" - hex code #32CD32 - contrast ratio 2.1:1 -  N
  • "Green" - hex code #008000 - contrast ratio 5.1:1 -  Y

Can you change your colors?

In my opinion even the Ke is difficult to read, at least on my laptop. It's just barely above the minimum contrast and your choice of font results in very thin lines. But I won't press that point.

Also, once changed, you might want to replace your entry at Wikipedia:Signature tutorial#Real-life examples, as the username there is too tiny to read easily. ―Mandruss  08:53, 2 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for letting me know, Mandruss! It's actually funny that you posted this today, because I just came across the signature accessibility guidelines last night. I've been experimenting with some options since then, so I think my current signature should be easier to read. It has contrast ratios of:
  • DarkRed – hex code #8B0000 – contrast ratio 10.01:1  Y
  • MediumBlue – hex code #0000CD – contrast ratio 11.16:1  Y
  • Indigo – hex code #4B0082 – contrast ratio 12.95:1  Y
If you think there's still a problem with my signature, please let me know and I'll do my best to fix it. Thanks for fighting the good fight for accessibility and low-contrast screens. :) SaAnKe 15:13, 2 August 2017 (UTC)Reply
By the way – I don't really know what the policy is when you change your signature for accessibility/readability reasons. Am I supposed to go back and change all of them? SaAnKe 15:54, 2 August 2017 (UTC)Reply
Ah, looks so much better! No, you just leave the existing ones. Thanks! ―Mandruss  18:07, 2 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

DYK for Gordon Vette

edit

On 29 August 2017, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Gordon Vette, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that in 1978, airline captain Gordon Vette rescued a Cessna pilot who was lost over the Pacific Ocean and running out of fuel? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Gordon Vette. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Gordon Vette), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.
