Peer Review

Overall, the article is pretty strong! Your writing and organization is clear and concise. I particularly liked the way you used bullet points under the “Benefits” section because it really enhances the readability of the article. The primary way I think the article can be improved is by adding another subsection describing the background of how these courts emerged and what problems/challenges they were trying to rectify. You mention that in the lead, but then there is no follow-up. As a reader, I would also want to know how these courts work more specifically, such as how do the courts enhance defendant accountability? I might also consider adding more definitions/explanations for some of the more specialized words/terms (e.g., safety planning, batterer compliance, types of victim relief, etc.). I also wonder whether there are any sources out there about how survivors themselves feel about domestic violence courts? Do they find them effective? Do they identify other benefits and concerns that advocates, practitioners, and researchers overlook? Overall, I would assess the article’s completeness as moderately-developed. The sections that are included are well-developed, but some things like background are underdeveloped and could benefit readers by providing a more thorough explanation of domestic violence courts. Peer Review

Overall, the article is very strong in length and in content. Compared to the original article, it looks like this author is adding a lot of important details for this topic which is great. I like how this author added to the lead section with some background and a link to an important court case. It may add to the article to talk about other important domestic violence cases that contributed to the creation of domestic violence court. It also may add to the article to talk about other states and their domestic violence courts, as in the original article they only talk about New York. However, it seems like this author has made really strong additions to the concerns section of the article and cited those accordingly. It may be helpful to look for sources that are more recent, but if there haven’t been changes to the domestic violence courts in recent years then this may not be necessary.
