Edit summary edit

  Hello. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.

When editing Wikipedia, there is a field labeled "Edit summary" below the main edit box. It looks like this:

Please be sure to provide a summary of every edit you make, even if you write only the briefest of summaries. The summaries are very helpful to people browsing an article's history.

Signature edit

  Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment; or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button (  in the enhanced toolbar, or   if you use the old "classic" toolbar) located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Some concerns edit

Hi SJCAmerican

Thanks for your helpful edits on the Greco-Italian war. However, some readers of Wikipedia are becoming quite concerned by how bias this article is becoming. There does appear to exist a small clique of editors (mainly with Greek usernames) who merely see Wikipedia as a platform to espouse their jingoistic and patriotic views. This cannot be what Wikipedia is about, surely.

For example, take the recent edit of Cplakidas who felt the need to rope in the Italian involvement with the Spanish Civil war as an example of, in his words, that "which impacted Italian effort in WW2 and highlighted some of the chronic problems of the Italian high command." Really? Isn't this going a bit too far now? Why not go further and rope in the Italian involvement in WW1 as an example of "all things wrong with the Italian military"? Why not go further back in time, to say, the 18th century too, as somehow relevant to all things wrong with the Italian military?

And there is not a single reference to the formal surrender of the Greek army of Epirus to General Ferrero on the 23rd April? Strange to say the least? Perhaps the surrender of an entire army simply isn't relevant and worth mentioning? Or could it be that to include such a factual statement would somehow "tarnish" the image many Greeks have about themselves and that war?

I hope you can see fit to do something about this article, and many others where the Greeks appear to claim "victory after victory" where indeed, there was none.

ArbCom 2018 election voter message edit

Hello, SJCAmerican. Voting in the 2018 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 3 December. All users who registered an account before Sunday, 28 October 2018, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Thursday, 1 November 2018 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

Greek capture of Salonika moved to draftspace edit

An article you recently created, Greek capture of Salonika, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page.
