Speedy deletion nomination of Southport on Lake Washington

Hello, and thank you for your note. Gilo1969 proposed that the page be deleted as advertising (he notified you immediately after making the proposal), so I want you to know that it wasn't just my idea. Here are some of the issues that led to me to consider Gilo correct:

• Near the beginning of the page is a paragraph seemingly aimed at travellers (whether potential residents who need to travel frequently, or visitors considering a hotel at Southport), which comprises one sentence talking about its proximity to nearby airports, one sentence talking about the driving time to nearby highways, and one sentence talking about residential and hotel options.
• Not far below, we're told that the hotel on site is award-winning.
• "SECO Founder Michael Christ first spotted the site from his boat on Lake Washington where he would watch sunsets and admir the mountains and Seattle skyline."
• In the background section, the site's 100-gigabits-per-second Internet connection is noted
• The project's significance is touted through means like specifying the demolition contractor's history ("carried out by the same firm that handled the Kingdome demolition"), noting things that apply to all developments ("The Southport project required...an environmental impact statement"), and providing really precise details about individual buildings ("Two apartment buildings totaling 383 units")

Put together, all of these factors made the article look a lot like a real-estate salesman's brochure, and unfortunately, we get tons of advertisements for anything and everything, so our standards are really strict in this area. I can help you put together an encyclopedia article about the development, if you'd like, but we'll have to do things quite differently. Nyttend (talk) 00:53, 26 August 2019 (UTC)

Hello, I'm sorry I forgot to reply sooner. For this kind of topic, some of the best sources are governmental: can you find resources from King County or the city of Renton that provide detailed coverage of the development? We're going to need primarily text coverage that goes beyond raw data; something like a map or a GIS database won't be particularly useful. A bunch of the sources you cited in the first version of the article will be useful, and I'll paste them here; I just wanted to see if you could find more than news media before we go farther. Also, either here or my talk page is a good place to respond, so if you hadn't said anything yet, I'd say to respond at either place. But since you've made one reply at my talk page, best to keep replying there, so your responses are easy to follow and don't get scattered among pages. Nyttend (talk) 02:44, 29 August 2019 (UTC)
