@SD0001: (and FYI to @Pppery:) looks like there is a bug if the talk page doesn't match, see this entry. Looks like the edit request template doesn't support a page= parameter, you can use 1= though. — xaosflux Talk 16:09, 1 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
It was intentional on my part to post both the CSS and JS edit requests to the same page, thinking that since they were logically related it would be better to keep them together. But I don't feel strongly if they should be separate instead. * Pppery * it has begun... 16:11, 1 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Pppery that seems fine, just that the bot is putting bad edit requests right now. If the bot code (or template code) gets fixed, it seems fine to me though. — xaosflux Talk 16:14, 1 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

Section of a page

edit

Also, would it be possible to make the bot support copying from one section of a page? Wikipedia:Village_pump_(technical)#Gadget-autonum_(Auto-number_headings) made me think about using this bot to copy mw:Snippets/Auto-number headings to MediaWiki:Gadget-autonum.js and MediaWiki:Gadget-autonum.css but that page has both the CSS and JS on one page rather than as separate pages. * Pppery * it has begun... 16:57, 1 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

I think it's better in such cases to transclude the code from a separate page which has the contentmodel protection. In this case, turns out the separate pages already exist as mw wiki itself has autonum installed. I just did this to avoid the duplication. – SD0001 (talk) 18:34, 1 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
I actually disagree in principle - since a local iadmin has to review changes anyway upstream may as well be broadly editable to allow others to suggest changes easier if a problem occurs (MediaWiki.org does have an edit request process but it's rarely used and generally monitored only by me). But whatever, that's good enough for me, and I've added the entry. * Pppery * it has begun... 19:28, 1 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
Ah yeah that's also a good point! Feel free to undo the mw.org edit. – SD0001 (talk) 12:35, 2 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
I'm not going to, because having it in two places on MediaWiki.org isn't any good either. * Pppery * it has begun... 17:46, 2 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
