Proposed deletion of Enter Within

edit

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Enter Within, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

The article's author states he is the producer of this film. All the references are networking sites and the film festival apparently exists only as a group site on Youtube. There is no reference on IMDB. The name "Enter Within" is inherently difficult to google but as far as I can tell there are no independent 3rd party references to this film on the net or on google news. In short this is a Youtube clip by S Beckman currently seen by 73 viewers. It has no obvious notabiliity

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. {{helpme}} Just wondering how I can best improve my page so it applies more to the nature of what a Wikipedia page requires. If you read the discussion on the Enter Within page, you will find reasoning to some of things.

Thanks very much.

Hi there, first of all I would like to congratulate you on writing quite a good article. However I'm afraid that it may not reach Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion based on notability, there is little that you can do to improve the notability of the page because the film just isn't that well known.
You have stated that it warrants inclusion into Wikipedia because it won an award at the Rev Film Festival however the festival itself does not have a Wikipedia page and does not seem all that notable. The only way to establish notability in these cases would be if the film had coverage in the press or had a significant following. All of the sources that you have cited in the article are not normally considered as reliable enough for the sole basis of an article I'm afraid. I would look at the Wikipedia policies for notability to help you with establishing notability for your article and I would also recomend reading the conflict of interest policy just so you are aware of the conflict of interest between your interests as the director of the film and the interests of Wikipedia. Please feel free to send me a message on my talk page if you would like further assistance or if you would like me take a look at any changes you make. Articles for deletion nomination of Enter Within

edit

I have nominated Enter Within, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Enter Within. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. Porturology (talk) 11:45, 1 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

Conflict of Interest

edit

You should wait for others to write an article about subjects in which you are personally involved. This applies to articles about you, your achievements, your band, your business, your publications, your website, your relatives, and any other possible conflict of interest.

Creating an article about yourself is strongly discouraged. If you create such an article, it might be listed on articles for deletion. Deletion is not certain, but many feel strongly that you should not start articles about yourself. This is because independent creation encourages independent validation of both significance and verifiability. All edits to articles must conform to Wikipedia:No original research, Wikipedia:Neutral point of view, and Wikipedia:Verifiability.

If you are not "notable" under Wikipedia guidelines, creating an article about yourself may violate the policy that Wikipedia is not a personal webspace provider and would thus qualify for speedy deletion. If your achievements, etc., are verifiable and genuinely notable, and thus suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia, someone else will probably create an article about you sooner or later. (See Wikipedia:Wikipedians with articles.) Thank you.

Hi, please note that Wikipedia is an encyclopedia and global project. Things written about must be notable and the notability must be independently verifiable. I know you had advice on this while the prod template was in place. The prod is usually kept in place for 7 days so that improvements may be made in an attempt to bring the article up to standard. Normally if the prod is removed and the article still does not appear to have reached the required standard, it is sent to an article for deletion debate so that the consensus of the Wikipedia community can be gauged. While I realize that you are new to editing, you have stated that you realize that the film isn't currently suitable for an article and it is thus standard practice to now start an AFD debate Porturology (talk) 12:16, 1 June 2009 (UTC)Reply
