October 2010 edit

Welcome and thank you for experimenting with Wikipedia. Your test on the page Nintendo 3DS worked, and it has been reverted or removed. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. If you would like to experiment further, please use the sandbox instead. Thank you. Please do not enter what generation it is until consensus by the Wiki Community has been reached. iGeMiNix/What's up?/My Stuff 20:41, 3 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

@IGeMinix - Nintendo has stated that the Nintendo 3DS will succeed the Nintendo DS Series, which are currently 7th Generation Handhelds. A Major Successor usually states the beginning of a new Generation. I am not saying things like the release of the Nintendo DSi is "next gen" hardware. Microsoft said the Xbox 360 will succeed the original Xbox, Sony said the PlayStation 3 will succeed the PlayStation 2, Nintendo said the Nintendo DS will succeed the Game Boy Advance Series. Nintendo said the 3DS will succeed the Nintendo DS series, so it clearly belongs in a new generation. It uses different hardware than the Nintendo DS Family, the graphics are incomparable to the Nintendo DS. I think you should link the Nintendo 3DS to the eighth generation of consoles page, because it clearly is next gen hardware.

I am not doubting your reasoning, it is just that there hasn't been a vote whether it belong there or not.--iGeMiNix/What's up?/My Stuff 20:59, 3 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

The article History of video game consoles (eighth generation) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No reliable source has defined the 3DS as an eighth gen system; this is OR and speculation

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. MASEM (t) 00:35, 4 October 2010 (UTC)Reply
