To make an external link to another site, just surround the whole URL with single brackets, and put a single space and then the text you want to appear after the URL. In other words, writing this:

Main page

Both of the incidents you refer to occured on April Fools Day, a day in which even wikipedia administrators go a little crazy =). First, someone unprotected the main page, and an anonymous user made a minor edit, and then later, an administrator changed the page to say something about monkeys for a few seconds. They were just doing it to be funny and different, and it doesn't appear that any real harm was done, though a bunch of editors were pretty upset. —Spangineer^[es] (háblame) 01:53, 17 April 2006 (UTC)

No I don't need help. I changed that just on the AFD page because I was making another edit to the page, and I knew that new signs don't replace old ones. The page says that one of the purposes is so that if young Wikipedians mess-up, other users shouldn't get very mad since it was only a kid, versus what someone would do if the kids were adults. Welcome, TeckWiz, to Esperanza! As you might know, all the Esperanzians share one important goal: the success of this encyclopedia. Within that, we then attempt to strengthen the community bonds, and be the "approachable" side of the project. All of our ideals are held in the Charter, the governing document of the association.

Now that you are a member you should read the guide to what to do now or you may be interested in some of our programs. A quite important program is Stressbusters, which seeks to support editors who have encountered any stress from their Wikipedia events, and are seeking to leave the project. So far, Esperanza can be credited with the support and retention of several users. We will send you newsletters to keep you up to date. Also, we have a calendar of special events, member birthdays, and other holidays that you can add to and follow.

In addition to these projects, several more missions of Esperanza are in development, and are currently being created at Esperanza/Proposals.

Why do you guys organize them by surname, it makes no sense

I organized the table by Alphabetical order by first name, which is how the CBS website does it. You look like you're doing pretty good for a relatively new user—impressive, and I congratulate you. What kind of a school do you go to? I wouldn't expect it to infringe on your editing time very much. I find your opinions on the current POTUS rather... interesting.

He possibly had documents about 9/11 happening, and did nothing

I hope you aren't much of a credentialist or an advocate of bastardization, because then you'd be in trouble!

He caused many deaths in Hurricane Katrina when federal response from FEMA was late and too little. The head of FEMA at the time was one of "Bush's Buddies"

Ah. Bush killed them all, I see. :P

He knew about the NSA'S secret wire-tapping, which is an impeachable act (but now 3/4 of the Senate and the House of Representatives are Republicans and Bush's Buddies, so they would never impeach him.

Could you point me to the sacred law he broke right there? Democrats have been screaming "impeach Bush" since the month after he was inducted. If he was guilty of embezzlement or homicide then it wouldn't matter how many Congressmen were Republicans.

Are you particularly interested in any subject matter yet? What kind of musical instruments do you play? You look like a pretty good editor— please consider editing in articles outside of the Amazing Race and Survivor namespaces, if you know what I mean. But there is no need to store the discussions on a Esperanza subpage. The primary purpose of the transcluded discussion is about the article, not Esperanza meta-discussion. I believe there was a discussion on the ECOTM talk page, saying about creating archives. This is where the organization comes in.

Okay. But once again, since this is part of ECOTM, shouldn't it be a subpage of it?

Not really. The things that should be subpages of ECOTM are the meta-discussions ("What do we do about this page? How do we tag articles? Which one do we pick next?" etcetera), but the discussion about the articles should be in the article talk page, for several reasons. First, that's what the talk page is for: to discuss issues pertaining to improving the article. Then, making a thread in a subpage that is transcluded on another page causes the talk page to fall off from someone's watchlist: if the edit is made on the talk page of the article, then everyone, whether an Esperanza member or not, can see it. Third, there isn't as much value in us storing those discussions, as their primary purpose should be article improvement. Finally, no other collaboration does that, and users coming from other collaborations might be confused by our method. Titoxd^(?!?) 01:30, 12 November 2006 (UTC)

Nope, there's no problem with signing yourself there, so long as you think you can handle it. Sorry to bother you, but it looks like there was a slight misunderstanding. You wrote on your edit summary you were reverting "double vandalism". This is quite so. For some reason I can't apprehend my revert, which should otherwise contain sensible material, became worthless and full of nonsense. I don't know how vandals do this. Maybe they edited my revert and wrote whatever they wanted, but if that was so, shouldn't that show on the History page? Please don't think of me as one of those people. If you look at my contribution list you'll see I have been fighting them very actively over the past few days and have never engaged in reprehensible behavior before. Thank you very much for your time. EDIT: Forget that. That happened because Lupin only caught a mistake on line 92 whilere there were others, which you've corrected, on line 62 and who knows where else. As I hit the edit button, you probably hit submit. The double vandalism I was referring to was that of an IP, and a vandalism account. In other words, you beat me to it. PS: Just a wee tip while I have you. We normally require at least two warnings be given to a vandal (say a first and then a final) and then after the {{test4}} if they vandalize another page, then report them. I've just had to add a final to a couple of the vandals you just listed... thanks again!

Thanks for taking on the npa warnings. Just a question why do you consider it's not possible to have a npa0 & 1 warning. IMHO it is possible to give a warning for personal attacks AND assume good faith at the same time. Example, is a new editor not familiar with how editors talk to each other who calls someone an idiot in a minor disagreement the same as an editor calling another an 'effin' loser. The guidelines recommends have warnings 0 - 3 for blockable and 0 - 2 for not blockable, and if we don't try to keep to that we will end up with exactly the same system we have now, bits of warning here and there and no consistency. Well, I guess a npa1 can be used. but 0 is definitely too light. If someone for example, brings up on an article talk page how "some idiot" keeps removing one of his details, but also explains why, he's just losing a little of his cool. I guess that that could be an npa1. But, something like capitalizing on the user's talk page "YOU IDIOT!", should definitely deserve a npa2 or 3. Also, anything that would be considered vandalism, except for the fact that it's an attack, like blanking someones userpage with "You (any profanity)!!!" should be considered npa3. No. I use Lupin's IP tool for Recent Changes Patrol. All pages I edit are automatically added to my watchlist, but I usually remove all of the articles and users the are only part of RCP. In short, unless I edit the article (vs. just revert), it will not be on my watchlist and I won't monitor it. TeckWiz^TalkContribs_@ 01:30, 19 December 2006 (UTC)

IP report to AIV

I just saw you submitted a vandal report to WP:AIV. I just wanted to let you know that I did not block the vandal, because they were not properly warned. In most cases, you have to progress through t1, t2, t3, t4 before any action will be taken. Going to t4 directly is not really helpful, as in the case with this IP vandal, since the user only made two edits. No admin will ever block a user with one or two warnings unless it has to do with sockpuppetry. I thought you might want to know for future purposes. Wikipedia is not censored. Saying curse words is not a direct t4, in fact...I don't think anything is a direct t4. I personally go for a t2 first warning if it's cursing, and t1 for everything else. Nishkid64 22:03, 27 December 2006 (UTC)

I know the wiki isn't censored. I'm saying not just cursing, but calling someone a curse I would consider worse than just cursing, which is what the user did. And there is a jump directly to t4. True. Still, I know no admin will block if they see that warning and only two/three edits by a user. Also, curse vandalism is not the worst form.
