Notability

edit

Someone listed the article for deletion on notability grounds, and I retagged it for you to buy some time.

For the article to be kept, you have to state what makes Chesnoff notable and supply sources that document what you say. Examples might include: having argued precedent-setting cases, having represented a number of notable clients, specializing in a unique or at least unusual area of practice, having been involved in multiple cases that received nontrivial media coverage, receipt of notable industry awards, and candidacy for judicial office. Chesnoff

edit

You realize that you just requested that this entire page be deleted, right? -shirulashem (talk) 12:44, 8 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

I don't want the whole page deleted, I just want all the edits prior to July 8th removed from the history. There is certain information that I don't want displayed, and all of my edits were unnamed, so I just want it to be fresh (It was too hard to read). Is that ok? I thought I had the right code. I guess not. Let me know please. Thanks. Rzdemarco (talk) 14:58, 8 July 2009 (UTC)Reply
Ok. I removed the tag you put on it, because that would have deleted the entire page. As far as the content you want removed, you are of course free to remove it. However, there is a big caveat. You should take a look at WP:OWNERSHIP. If the material you don't want in the article is in the public domain, and can be properly sourced, then there's nothing stopping another editor from putting it back in. As long as the content doesn't violate WP:BLP, and it's neutral, then editors have a right to put it in. So if you are concerned about that, you should request it be speedily deleted. -shirulashem (talk) 15:21, 8 July 2009 (UTC)Reply
Here's the reply I put on my talk page:
I'm not sure I understand what you are requesting. "Edit history" refers to the previous versions of the article that are no longer in the current article. To "remove edit history" would mean that you want to remove any record of content that existed in the past but is no longer in the current article. This can be done, but there needs to be a compelling reason for it (i.e., WP:LIBEL). I'm not sure if that's what you want. However, what I think you are asking for is for any content that was added before yesterday to be deleted. If that's the case, then that can't be done. You'd have to manually edit the article. Let me know if that helps. -shirulashem (talk) 15:38, 8 July 2009 (UTC)Reply
  • You did it this morning, now they are back. What I mean is that I want the record of history for my edits to be deleted or inaccessible up until what is on the article currently. Further, I guess my question is, how do I manually remove my own personal edits from the history? I want to do this because all of my prior edits were unmarked and duplicative. It is a mess to try and navigate. Thanks. Rzdemarco (talk) 17:48, 8 July 2009 (UTC)Reply
Only Wikipedia editors with WP:OVERSIGHT rights can do that, and I don't think they will do it for anything less than libel or private information. You can check out this page for more information. There are a lot of articles that can help you for the future (see Help:Contents) to make sure your own edits conform with proper style and form, etc. Sorry. I wish I could be of more help. You can also copy and paste {{adminhelp}} below this, then type in your question underneath it, and an administrator will try to help you. -shirulashem (talk) 18:39, 8 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

{{adminhelp}} I am a new user, and I am changing my user name as it is too similar to my real name. I would like all of my previous edits removed from the public viewing as they are duplicative and unmarked. Can do you this for me please?

You can change your name here (no need to set up a new account), and all the edits will be transferred to the new one. -- Mentifisto 18:58, 8 July 2009 (UTC)Reply
Rzdemarco, I don't think you want to change your name through WP:CHU, because that will move your edit history to the new name. Why don't you simply create a new account? See this. You'll still have to make a separate request for your historical edits to be erased, however, no matter which route you take. -shirulashem (talk) 19:55, 8 July 2009 (UTC)Reply
  • Thx for the help.. How do I make the request to delete the edits?
You can try here. but like I said before, I don't know if they'll do it. -shirulashem (talk) 20:33, 8 July 2009 (UTC)Reply
Please do not delete the material yourself - as has been pointed out, you can request an admin to do this for you. You have made such a request and now you will have to leave the matter in their hands. Thankyou. Setwisohi (talk) 10:22, 9 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

Replaceable fair use Image:Chesnoffandschonfeld.jpg

Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Chesnoffandschonfeld.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NW (Talk) 18:47, 11 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

Moved drafts to user name space

edit

I moved User talk:Letsgetit136/chesnoff and User talk:Letsgetit136/davidchesnoff to User:Letsgetit136/chesnoff and User:Letsgetit136/davidchesnoff. I also created a user page for you. Please use subpages of the user name space for your drafts. Usually subpages of the user-talk name space are used for talk archives. Jason Quinn (talk) 17:22, 1 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Now that there's an article for David Chesnoff you should considering deleting the drafts. A perusal of your editing history seems to how that you have had some initial trouble editing on Wikipedia. I will add a "welcome" message at the top of your talk page that will have some useful links that should give you a better understanding of Wikipedia and how it operates so that your future edits will go more smoothly.
