Replaceable fair use File:Milford Therrell.jpeg edit

Thanks for uploading File:Milford Therrell.jpeg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ☆ Bri (talk) 15:34, 31 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Propane Education and Research Council edit

The article Propane Education and Research Council has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Article created by SPA is sourced to magazine with relationship to the Council and uncritical pro-industry outlets like "New marketing campaign designed to endear public to propane". WP:TNT and start over.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. ☆ Bri (talk) 22:33, 31 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

Hi Doc, no problem at all. The following are my proposed changes, which significantly reduces the size of the article and only relies on the text of the law itself located on the US Congress website. Several other sources could be considered to be uncritical since they report on the propane industry, so I decided it's best to remove passages that reference them. Thanks! -Ryan The Propane Education and Research Council (PERC) is a U.S. trade council that serves the propane industry. Created after the enactment of the Propane Education and Research Act of 1996,[1] the Council is authorized by federal law to facilitate programs to enhance safety, training, research and development, and consumer education.[1]

The Propane Education and Research Act (PERA) was passed by Congress in 1996.[1] It identified propane gas, or liquefied petroleum gas, as an essential commodity that provides heat, hot water, cooking fuel, and automotive fuel to millions of Americans, among other uses. Congress also noted the importance of propane as a clean alternative fuel that is predominantly produced in the U.S. .[1]

Consisting of 21 members representing marketers, producers, and the public, PERC is officially authorized to “develop programs and projects to enhance consumer education and employee safety and training, provide research and development of clean and efficient propane utilization equipment, (and) to inform and educate the public about safety and other issues associated with the use of propane.”[1] Its offices are in Washington, D.C.

{unblock|reason=Your reason here Hi Doc, thanks for sending over the info regarding paid submissions; I must have missed that when I was reviewing the guidelines before I created the article. This is the first time I have created a Wikipedia article. I am the social media manager for the Propane Education and Research Council. I apologize for not disclosing my affiliation on my user page. I will add that if I am unblocked. The council is a non-profit that was created by an act of Congress, so we don't sell anything; we mainly conduct research into new technologies and promote propane as a cleaner alternative to conventional fossil fuels as mandated by Congress. I wanted to create a Wikipedia page for the council since we get a lot of questions regarding why we were created by Congress and the work we do, especially from university students doing research on federal energy policies or propane itself. I wanted to create a Wikipedia page to help clear up any confusion. I also saw another comment that one of the sources that I used, LP Gas Magazine, has a connection to the council because we have a staff member on the editorial board. I didn't realize that would be an issue, but I am happy to remove all the content in the article that references that magazine. I apologize for that. I just finished my master's degree, so I should have know better. I also seem to have an issue with an image, which I will remove until I figure out the correct way to classify it. Again, I am happy to make all the necessary changes to ensure that the article is in full compliance with Wikipedia guidelines. The article has been labelled for deletion, but I think I can salvage it by relaying only on Congress.gov as a source, which has a copy of the law that was passed creating the council, and has a great deal of info the work we do and the council structure. Sorry again for all this, but thanks for the heads up! -- Ryan}

Okay. I will unblock this account if you:
1) Agree to suggest changes on the talk page rather than edit the article directly
Best Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 21:24, 1 August 2017 (UTC)Reply
You have edited the article directly in contravention of Doc James's unblock. This does not demonstrate good faith as a paid editor and I will ask for a re-block. ☆ Bri (talk) 21:19, 5 August 2017 (UTC)Reply
I apologize, I made the suggested changes because the page was deleted by another editor yesterday because they did not read the pages talk page with the suggested changes. I received an alert that stated the page is pending review and that any suggested changes needed to be made to the page to prevent deletion. I am in no way being malicious. I am more than happy never to touch that article again. I am only trying to prevent the page from being deleted by ensuring it meets Wikipedia guidelines. I am ignorant of the page review process and honestly meant no harm, but I respect any decision that is made. Ryandutcher (talk) 00:05, 6 August 2017 (UTC)Reply
