zone.tab edit

Please discuss your changes to the description of zone.tab on Talk:tz database. Wikipedia is not an instruction manual; an explicit description of the format (particularly when simply taken verbatim from the contents of the file itself) is neither appropriate nor useful here. 121a0012 (talk) 06:17, 12 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

And where did you discuss your changes? It was you who deleted content from the page. Royaume du Maroc (talk) 02:05, 15 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Addition of "IANA" to timezone-related articles edit

Hi Royaume du Maroc, welcome to Wikipedia! I am writing to suggest that you temporarily suspend your project of adding "IANA" to all of the tz database-related articles pending further discussion at Talk:IANA time zone database#tz into IANA. I also encourage you to join the discussion there before continuing. I appreciate your enthusiasm and boldness, but moving well-established articles and making mass changes are often best done after discussion and consensus building. Please let me know if you have any questions or I can help you with anything. Thanks and regards, --Dfred (talk) 14:46, 14 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Time in... edit

I'm sorry... it's late, so I'm not going to put much effort into this. I'm just going to ask: do you have any rationale for your "Time In" pages you've been creating, or any idea of notability for these? At absolute best, I can't see these being more than a redirect to their respective time zone wikis or the wikis for that specific region. Even then, I honestly have to say that it seems to be a waste of time, effort, and something that flat out wouldn't survive an AfD.

If you could respond on this matter before creating further pages that would be great. I really don't feel like going through the effort of tagging however-many articles for AfD. Thanks. Human.v2.0 (talk) 00:45, 18 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

There were already a few "Time in..." pages (like Time in Indiana). I created some more of them to contain information about the states that have multiple time zones. The material in them is new, and important. What's wrong with that? —[AlanM1 (talk)]— 02:11, 26 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Time articles edit

I removed these:

==See also==
* [[Time in the United States]]

from the Time in... articles because the {{United States topic}} immediately below them has that same link as the title for the box. Is there a reason to have it repeated above?

Also, is there a reason the table headers for the zonetab table are in lower-case, and the DST offset column header is redlinked? Are you going to add the offset data, or should we look at just transcluding the appropriate rows from the main zonetab article? —[AlanM1 (talk)]— 02:24, 26 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Same style as in List of IANA time zones. Any discussion regarding this please at Talk:List of IANA time zones. Royaume du Maroc (talk) 10:25, 28 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Now it seems that you still want to have a ==See also== section header above the {{United States topic}} linkbox? I looked at a handful of the other articles that use this template (and others like it) and found no other articles that specifically add such a section header over it. They might have a ==See also== section, but it's not always right above the template, and it's only there if there are things other than a linkbox to link to. I suggest removal of ==See also== unless there are any specific (non-template) links under it. —[AlanM1 (talk)]— 08:55, 28 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

I think I re-added it in one place. Maybe it doesn't fit with the layout in other places in WP. On the other hand, you said the link in the Navbox is similar enough to the plain link Time in the United States to warrant removal of the latter. I specifically did include the plain link, so the See-Also-Plain-Link-Emptiness wouldn't occur. Royaume du Maroc (talk) 10:25, 28 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
Right, but doesn't it make more sense to just remove the section and the link? —[AlanM1 (talk)]— 11:19, 28 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
I don't know :-) I have the feeling it is nicer to have a proper section at the end of each article and to explicitly show the Time in the US link. Royaume du Maroc (talk) 11:30, 28 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion declined: Category:Individual clocks in England edit

Hello Royaume du Maroc. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Category:Individual clocks in England, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: See Talk page. Thank you. — Malik Shabazz Talk/Stalk 15:16, 27 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Time in Idaho edit

You apparently didn't see Talk:Time in Idaho. The image has the zones reversed, which is why I spent time creating a new one and editing the article. —[AlanM1 (talk)]— 11:31, 28 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Correct. I didn't see it in the first place, but later. I will work on fixing. I will simply remove the legend from the image. Sadly, it isn't SVG. Royaume du Maroc (talk) 11:33, 28 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Category:Time in Belarus edit

A tag has been placed on Category:Time in Belarus indicating that it is currently empty, and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion. If it remains empty for seven days or more, it may be deleted under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion".
