Happy editing!

You should be aware of our policy on sockpuppetry. If you have abandoned the User:Miloboy1 account in favour of this one, that's fine, but you shouldn't use both accounts.-gadfium 17:37, 31 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

If User:Miloboy1 is a block evasion of User:Teahiraugrey11 per User talk:Miloboy1, then so is this account. DerbyCountyinNZ (Talk Contribs) 18:01, 31 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
Teahiraugrey11 was evading an IP block. That block expired about the time Miloboy1 first edited, and the accounts are providing sources, if not always correctly. I'm assuming good faith.-gadfium 21:27, 31 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

February 2023

edit

Hello, I'm Materialscientist. I noticed that in this edit to Ngāpuhi, you removed content without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, the removed content has been restored. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Materialscientist (talk) 07:55, 1 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

Census

edit

New Zealand has a census every five years. The last one was in 2018 and there will be another next month, although the results will not be available for many months after that. You are adding "census results" for 2021 or 2022 to articles, but these are estimates from Statistics New Zealand, not census results. You are also replaced the templated populations with raw figures. The templates are better, because they are updated annually in a much simpler process than needing to edit each article individually. You also seem to be confusing the population of cities/urban areas with the population of districts. In short, your edits on these matters are not helpful.-gadfium 08:17, 1 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

Maori ethnic flag

edit

Hi RG. Re your caption on the image of the Tino Rangatiratanga flag. It needs to be called something other than "Maori ethnic flag" it is never refered to in these terms. Two - the image is already in the article and does not need to be there twice. Maungapohatu (talk) 18:57, 1 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

Previous names?

edit

Have you by any chance previously edited as 'Hanamohi' and/or as 'Grey Rotorua'? I raise this query due to the use of a similar editing style and use of 'this is true' in edit summaries. Murray Langton (talk) 22:33, 1 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

Oh dear, this is a much bigger pattern of behaviour than I realized. Let's lay it all out.
And these are only the ones I found by searching for "real/true information" and "I've done research" on some of the pages they tend to edit. I wonder how many more are out there. --Pokelova (talk) 00:58, 2 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
The pattern of the edits by the above accounts is a clear indication of an inability/unwillingness to edit co-operatively. Surely this is worth a an SPI? DerbyCountyinNZ (Talk Contribs) 01:28, 2 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
Agree about an SPI. @Gadfium seems to have blocked a few of these socks and may have suggestions? Daveosaurus (talk) 01:45, 2 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
I also agree an SPI would be appropriate. I don't have others to add to the list off the top of my head. There are others in the 2404:4402:3745:9900:0:0:0:0/64 range, and in the related 2404:4402:373A:7F00:0:0:0:0/64 range. I think Rotoruagirl's edits look like the work of someone new to Wikipedia, but the pattern goes back about a year or longer if Hudosngrey is the same person, and that's too long to keep making allowances for a newbie.-gadfium 03:12, 2 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

No sorry I honestly do not have a clue who those accounts belong to. Thanks Rotoruagirl (talk) 03:16, 2 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

These other accounts have a particular writing style and turn of phrase very similar to yours, so they may be your friends or family if not you yourself.
@Rotoruagirl, now that we have your attention, can you please read these links about how to contribute to Wikipedia. I understand you want to help, but Wikipedia is an established venue with established protocols and expectations, and you'd be better off working with us all than against us - because working against everyone else just means your contributions will be removed and, eventually, you'll be unable to contribute any more.

All blocked

edit

All the above accounts are now indefinitely blocked. Feel free to let me know if any further accounts are detected.-gadfium 17:22, 3 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

@Gadfium: Kaweraugirl1 is pretty clearly the same person. —VeryRarelyStable 08:49, 18 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
I agree that's likely, but I'm not sure. I don't intend to take any action at this point.-gadfium 08:54, 18 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
