Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, you may not know that Wikipedia has a Manual of Style that should be followed to maintain a consistent, encyclopedic appearance. Using different styles throughout the encyclopedia, as you did in Case Closed: The Raven Chaser, makes it harder to read. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. DragonZero (talk) 22:49, 22 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

About Artemis Fowl (series)

If you are talking about the information I added about the audiobooks and their narrators, I received it from listening to them. If you are referring to the plot info on Artemis Fowl: The Last Guardian, the upcoming eighth and final novel in the series, I read a video update on the Artemis Fowl facebook page here. was wrong. All things called doi, are not doi. — Preceding unsigned comment added by AManWithNoPlan (talkcontribs) 03:45, 23 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

I've seen that you corrected it; thanks! Sorry about the mistake; I usually check these things. I'll be more careful next time. Thanks for pointing that out to me! Rotideypoc41352 (talk) 17:15, 23 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

You're welcome. Glad that I could help! Congratulations on having Snow Treasure pass AfC! The article looks great, especially the Historical Origins section. Please feel free to contact me if you need help in the future. I'll try my best to help! Rotideypoc41352 (talk) 05:36, 1 December 2012 (UTC)Reply
Actually, I need to give praise where it is due. Keri really did most of the work in the Historical Origins section. Half of what is in there I didn't even know!   Jakob 15:16, 1 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

User talk:Thatmaned

I've declined your speedy request as it's a user talk page. Unattached talk pages in other spaces usually get deleted, but not in user space. Peridon (talk) 17:16, 1 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for letting me know, Peridon. Should this page be nominated at Miscellany for deletion instead? Rotideypoc41352 (talk) 02:27, 6 October 2013 (UTC)Reply
No, we don't usually delete user talk pages. There were possible objections to the existence of the user page, but this talk page is harmless. We do delete the talk pages if used for attack, spam, copyvio, or if containing personal details of minors, when there's nothing else there to keep. If there is, we use revdel to hide the info (only admins can see revdeled stuff) and in some cases we get oversight (which removes it from the view of admins - belt and braces principle). Another case is where a very polite request is made by a blocked user with a company name to have the page taken off view. This is a bit WP:IAR, and isn't granted if they're being snotty. Any user talk pages (talk pages of subpages, that is) can be requested by the user for deletion under U1. Non-user talk pages that aren't attached (with the exception of AfC, where the talk page IS the main page in most cases) can be speedied G8. If an unattached talk page looks like a valid article, it can be moved to AfC, but do notify the creator (which isn't always easy if it's an IP...). I've not seen one yet worth moving. There must be some. Mind you, a heck of a lot of stuff at AfC is junk anyway. Peridon (talk) 09:57, 6 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

Peridon, thanks for defending my talk page. Though, when I made it, I was being silly. But, I have made some contributions to a few articels such as "South Berkeley", "Pimp", "Empire of Mali", and "Arrow". I cant figure out how to contribute now, though. If you could tell me how I can have access to editing/contributing to articles, that'd be awesome. I've accumulated a lot of little facts and info tidbits since my last entry. Thanks. Thanks!

Thank you for moving the title to the article I had created. I didn't realize until afterwards that it was incorrect, and I didn't know how to fix it (being new to Wikipedia). Cheers! Twyfan714 (talk) 02:50, 27 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

No problem. For future reference, click the little arrow in the upper right, next to the star. Then, click "Move" and type in the correct title. Happy editing! Rotideypoc41352 (talk) 02:53, 27 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion declined: Germany–Italy football rivalry

Hello Rotideypoc41352. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Germany–Italy football rivalry, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: This has been around long enough and has enough claim to importance that A7 is inappropriate. Take it to AFD. Thank you. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 19:46, 7 December 2014 (UTC)Reply

great expectations

Hello - yes, I remember I was struck reading the article by the sentence that said Pip grew up in a land of dangerous 'swamps' and thought , blimey that's a bit strong , - its only Kent - but seeing it is translated from the French I see how it came about - 'marshes' would be better for Kent I think , - that French article is enormous and I looked at the main contributors user page - turns out he was french master at Eton college a while back , - its probably excellent but taking it over totally for the English page is a bit odd in some ways - like coming across that table of connections between the characters, but it is in French - I will have a read of the entire article and say what I think could be improved -- not that I have any credentials, except I did read the novel last year so its pretty fresh in my mind at least! Using the French article as a guide is probably a good idea but maybe some sections of it are better than others-and maybe it is a bit too long Sayerslle (talk) 18:31, 1 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

Co-op mentorship

Hello Rotideypoc41352, the bot that matches learners to mentors at WP:Co-op has matched you to Jim Carter, but unfortunately Jim Carter currently has some off-wiki issues that prevent him from spending the necessary time on Wikipedia. Thus I'll be happy to help you instead. You said you wanted to learn how to contribute content. The one-sentence summary would be, "find something that's missing, be it a missing article or an aspect within an existing article, find reliable sources that cover that topic, and summarize in your own words what those sources report." Obviously the devil is in the details; particularly the "find sources" part often is quite a challenge. I saw you have already begun collecting sources on your sandbox; do you have a specific topic in mind you want to write about? Are there particular aspects of content creation you would like to know more about? Huon (talk) 12:32, 15 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hello, Huon. I was thinking about expanding Gail Scott (journalist) so that it could be nominated at DYK. While the DYK deadline has passed, I figure that I might as well add to the article using the sources in my sandbox. However, I'm not too sure how to go about doing this; the articles are mostly about her opinions on events in Canadian broadcasting at the time and not biographical details on her life. Should they be integrated into Scott's article as another section about her views on events or something? Thanks. Rotideypoc41352 (talk) 20:04, 24 March 2015 (UTC)Reply
WP:DYK has an "expanded fivefold" provision that would allow not-quite-new articles to be nominated, but it may be difficult to write quite as much. Regarding the content, I'm rather skeptical about a "views" section or something of that kind. At a very quick glance at your sources, this one says she was a professor at Ryerson, an aspect of her biography the article currently doesn't mention. Another source I found rather interesting discussed her stance on some issue before the CRTC - not just an opinion she expressed in an interview, but her official stance as a commissioner performing her duties. Something like that could well be used to expand the article's very short coverage of her role as commissioner. If it's just her views on the broadcasting industry in general, I doubt listing them would improve our readers' understanding of her. Huon (talk) 23:04, 24 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

Nellie Tayloe Ross

Hi. Just to let you know that I have reverted your recent edit to the above article. Given that the article in question is likely to be read many times today, it seems inappropriate to leave it in un-edited form. I suggest you copy the paragraphs you need into a sandbox page, edit them there. Then, once they're ready, they can be copied into the Nellie Tayloe Ross article seamlessly. Thanks. RomanSpa (talk) 19:45, 14 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for leaving me a note, @RomanSpa:! I copy and edit in separate edits to make attribution easier (as required by CC-BY-SA). It would have been nice to help edit instead of reverting (after all, I don't own the article by any means!), but I totally understand if you have other commitments. Elkhart Central High School

You might take your own advice above. I reverted your removal of the athletic section at the above article. Indiana high school athletics are very easy to source. The state athletic authority can be found at IHSAA.org. Under the school tab is a listing of state championships by school. Sports offered are probably uncontroversial enough to not require a reference (except of course when the kiddies insist on adding competitive basket weaving, or alpine skiing to a school in Florida), but usually that info can be found on the school's website, or if you want an independent source, for Indiana, there is a pdf at IHSAA.org titled school directory with that info. I'm two time zones away and about to fall asleep, so if I don't get to it, you now know how.John from Idegon (talk) 02:37, 21 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

Many thanks. It seems that you'd do a better job than I would. I may come back and prosify it. Remove the "underwater basket weaving" entries. Or perhaps quiz bowl. Where'd you find a source for that anyway? (Last three sentences meant in jest. I may find a source for quiz bowl. Not so much for underwater basket weaving. Not a sourcing wizard, sadly.) Rotideypoc41352 (talk) 02:46, 21 October 2015 (UTC)Reply
If you do a lot of Indiana high school articles, you might find this useful. I made it for my alma mater, but with just a few tweeks, it will work for any Indiana hs. John from Idegon (talk) 03:21, 21 October 2015 (UTC)Reply
