Your DYK nom for Lake Jipe

Hi Rosie, and welcome back to DYK. I've reviewed your nomination at Template:Did you know nominations/Lake Jipe and there is still a paragraph that is uncited. Could you see my comments at the nomination page and reply there? Thanks. Crisco 1492 (talk) 16:24, 1 October 2011 (UTC)

DYK for Lake Jipe

Orlady (talk) 00:02, 4 October 2011 (UTC)

There we go. Interested in resurrecting our DYK contributions again? that's the only way I really feel motivated to produce start class articles!♦ Dr. Blofeld 08:24, 4 October 2011 (UTC)

Hey Rosie if you can find sources for Palacio de las Dueñas can we DYK it?♦ Dr. Blofeld 11:18, 6 October 2011 (UTC)

Awesome, thanks. I also translated Archbishop's Palace, Seville, although you probably need a rest now!♦ Dr. Blofeld 17:41, 8 October 2011 (UTC)

I messed it up here. I really hate this nomination on a separate page thing.♦ Dr. Blofeld 17:49, 8 October 2011 (UTC)

Odd but the map of the river indicates it doesn't mass through Kenya. Related rivers of the basin do I think but not the Pangani River itself which appears to start in the southern end of the lake.♦ Dr. Blofeld 18:26, 9 October 2011 (UTC)

Sad that Nvv is unwell. Can you try to add a bit to Montecito Inn to make DYK viable?♦ Dr. Blofeld 12:18, 10 October 2011 (UTC)

Are you still interested in User:Dr. Blofeld/DYK A-Z country challenge?♦ Dr. Blofeld 13:26, 10 October 2011 (UTC)

Good job Rosie. I've nommed Montecito, can you find a hook a nominate the Pangani?♦ Dr. Blofeld 10:55, 11 October 2011 (UTC)

I've started John Tayloe I and John Tayloe II but you might be interested in starting John Tayloe III which probably has more potential sources. If you can start it I'll add to it afterwards!♦ Dr. Blofeld 16:56, 14 October 2011 (UTC)

Can you get The Sloop Inn over the DYK threshold?♦ Dr. Blofeld 20:50, 16 October 2011 (UTC)

Great job. Crikey that John Tayloe II must have been the man, they say it takes a real man to produce a girl and this guy had 10 girls out of 11!! Did you read Reportedly haunted locations in Washington, D.C. which I recently promoted to GA? BTW there is some tragedy related to the Octagon house, I think it was JT III who lost two daughters down the staricase and they are said to haunt it or something! Seems a bit suspicious, I mean the first daughter who fell was in the outbreak of the British invasion of 1812 and Tayloe was said to disapprove of his daughters intent to marry a British man. The other one died in similar circumstances, he supposedly knocked into her by accident on the staircase! It was covered in this fascinating documentary. ♦ Dr. Blofeld 23:13, 16 October 2011 (UTC)

Dunno LOL, can you think of one. The Archbishop palace reportedly needs more citations BTW. Try to think of one to cram them all in.♦ Dr. Blofeld 12:07, 18 October 2011 (UTC)

Re: Ratih Hardjono

Hi Rosie, thanks for the heads up. The two users who will be doing the editing for the Lontar Foundation are still doing baby steps at Eka Budianta and Sapardi Djoko Damono, and are unable to read Indonesian. I will take a look for the Indonesian language sources. Cheers! Crisco 1492 (talk) 04:50, 13 October 2011 (UTC)

  • This is as far as I can get (most of the Indonesian sources probably haven't been put online). I'll nominate. Crisco 1492 (talk) 05:56, 13 October 2011 (UTC)
  • I actually took a look at that, but she seems to have lived in the Netherlands most of her life; I do not know any good sources from there, and I'm not fluent in Dutch either. Sorry. Crisco 1492 (talk) 02:39, 16 October 2011 (UTC)

Some help finding articles that need minor edits? JMU Org. Comm. Class

Our class is working on their own pages in sandboxes but today we wanted to do a computer workshop where each pair of students (~12 pairs) will be given an article (preferably related to the field of communication) that needs minor editing or formats to get them comfortable with the process. I tried to find such pages on my own using the community portal but I feel overwhelmed. Any suggestions? Class is at 12:20 - nothing like 11th hour planning! Interview with Wikimedia Foundation

Hello Rosiestep, I hope you're well. My name is Aaron and I'm one of the Storytellers working on the 2011 fundraiser here at the Wikimedia Foundation. For this year's campaign we're seeking out and interviewing active Wikipedians like yourself, in order to produce a broader and more representative range of "personal appeals" to run come November. If you'd like to participate in this project, please email me at amuszalski wikimedia.org. Interviews are typically conducted by phone or Skype and take between 30-90 minutes. (Note: This invitation is open to any interested Wikipedian — If you're reading this, and would like to be interviewed as well, please contact me.) Thanks! City Mall, Christchurch

Hi Rosie, I've been distracted lately with other things, and will get back to Linwood House soon, but I'm now working on City Mall, Christchurch. It's the first part of the central city that will open since the February earthquake. Problem is that most of the buildings are gone, so they are building a temp shopping area from shipping containers! Plan is to ask for a speedy DYK process to get this on the homepage on the day of the opening. The article is two thirds ready. Do you have time to add to it? Schwede66 21:31, 22 October 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for making a start. I've also added to it, moved it into mainspace and nominated it. I've put a list of to do items on the talk page. There are still a few potential sources in the article that are commented out. We'll have to add your user name to the nomination once you've contributed to this. Pangani River DYK

An issue was raised at WT:Did you know about the clarity of the hook (about Pangani having a reputation for fevers), and while I disagreed, I noticed on looking at the article that the hook and the paragraph describe Pangani as a village—but the source is dated 1872 and it's now a town. The DYK reviewer had suggested an alternate hook, which I think might be better in order to simply avoid both issues; I would have changed it but the Prep is now a Queue and will hit the main page at midnight UTC. You may want to weigh in at Talk:Did You Know on which hook you prefer; the existing one, if kept, should be changed to reflect the fact it's no longer a village. I've modified the article text to reflect that. Yngvadottir (talk) 21:08, 25 October 2011 (UTC)

DYK for Pangani River

Well done, thanks from the DYK project Victuallers (talk) 00:02, 26 October 2011 (UTC)

Can you expand Huningue? Strategical location on the border of Switzerland and Germany! Also if you can find sources for Johnny Stark (talent manager) and expand a bit might be DYK worthy. Also Oxomoco very interesting could be a joint DYK. ♦ Dr. Blofeld 11:04, 26 October 2011 (UTC)

Have you decided to give up on DYK? I though you'd have gone for a DYK for Embleton bay. Or are you finding it too much hassle? I must admit the time it takes to go through is now ridiculous and spoils the fun of creating a new article. You almost forget about it after what seems like a month. You may want to help translate this. ♦ Dr. Blofeld 12:37, 27 October 2011 (UTC)

DYK nomination of Church of St Michael, Alnham: issue raised

Hi, at WT:Did You Know#Prep 2, copyvio on deck SandyGeorgia raised questions about two articles now in prep, one being Church of St Michael, Alnham, and I do see an issue with close wording (and in one place material is possibly from a source other than the one cited). Letting you know in hopes that this can be speedily and happily resolved; I do note that the sources in question are now public domain. Yngvadottir (talk) 06:00, 4 November 2011 (UTC)

Pangani

Hello Rosiestep

I have corrected as much as possible in "your" article and the others that belong to this river system. May your please check as a native speaker. Unfortunately you have used very old sources, and the names of the rivers in africa changes often. Also some of the names used for more then 1 river. Please keep in mind that I have spend hundreds of hours to get an understanding of the hole Pangani river system.
