Speedy deletion nomination of Silviu Ionescu edit

Please do not make statements attacking people or groups of people. Wikipedia has a strict policy against personal attacks. Attack pages and images are not tolerated by Wikipedia and are speedily deleted. Users who continue to create or repost such pages and images in violation of our biographies of living persons policy will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Thank you.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Silviu Ionescu edit

Welcome to Wikipedia, and thank you for your contributions, including your edits to Silviu Ionescu. However, please be aware of Wikipedia's policy that biographical information about living persons must not be libelous. Any controversial statements about a living person added to an article, or any other Wikipedia page, must include proper sources. Thank you.

Please see these entries:

I am concerned that this article does not meet our policies for neutrality, soapboxes and biographies of living people:

I'm not writing this to be snappish and I know you're new to Wikipedia -- I just want to make sure the content you're adding meets both the letter and the spirit of our policies. We're an encyclopaedia, so much of the material we get is not a good fit to our rather speciailized purposes. --A. B. (talkcontribs) 14:51, 5 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Silviu Ionescu deletion edit

I have moved the article you placed in the Wikipedia space to User:Ronald2010/Silviu Ionescu for you to work on it. I also deleted Silviu Ionescu, as it does not conform to our standards. Neither does the working copy, but it's not in the main space so it's acceptable for the moment - if you are going to improve it. If you have intentions of doing so, and need assistance, please feel free to ask. Note also that the subject must meet WP:NOTABILITY guidelines. If you are not going to edit the article, don't be surprised if it is nominated for deletion at WP:MFD.  Frank  |  talk  15:03, 5 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

contacting other users edit

I noticed you created a page with frank.. how do I contact you? Sending messages thru recreating a deleted article is probably the worst possible way to contact someone. I would suggest you start by leaving them a message in thier talk page...If it takes a bit. its not the end of the world. -Tracer9999 (talk) 15:12, 6 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Silvio Ionescu edit

The article you created has been deleted as falling substantially below the standards required by our policy on biographies of living people. While I understand that this news story may well loom large in the public consciousness at the moment, we typically do not have biographies for people who are known only for a single event as this places undue weight on that event within the context of the person's life. We have a sister project, Wikinews, which is designed to cover news stories, perhaps that is where you should be looking instead. In the mean time, repeatedly inserting a single event into multiple articles or re-creating a biography focused on a single crime in the life of a living person, however serious the crime might be, is likely to get you blocked, so I strongly advise not doing that. Accounts are not deleted.  Frank  |  talk  18:06, 6 April 2010 (UTC)Reply
  • We can't delete accounts, nor is there any need to - nobody thinks you're evil, it's just that our policy structure takes a while to learn. Please don't be discouraged, it's not a great start here but neither is it the end of the world. The fact that you stopped when asked is a great sign - some people don't get it and end up banned, it seems that you're not one of them. If you settle in and spend some time looking around and maybe fixing up the odd error here and there (we have more than enough to be working on, fixing spelling errors is a popular pastime) then there's no reason at all why you should not become a valued and happy member of the Wikipedia community. Of course you might choose to abandon this account and start again, nobody would blame you for that, but even that is unnecessary really. Someone who starts with a common mistake (which this was) and learns from it, has established a reputation for being accepting of our principles, that's a good thing. So, I hope you decide to stay around and well done for understanding that this is not personal, it's just the way we have to work (for reasons that are 50% painful and 50% boring, which I'll explain if you like). Silviu Ionescu - Centralizing discussions edit

Please note I have moved the prospective article to Wikipedia:Articles for creation/2009 Singapore Romanian diplomat incident

This frees up the page Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/2009 Singapore Romanian diplomat incident, where we can discuss developments.

This hopefully avoids the problems of the various discussions split over several user talk pages.

The page title was changed following discussions and concerns over WP:BLP1E - further discussion can continue on the talk page.

Silviu Ionescu - Amount of Detail edit

Hi there, I understand you are working very hard on the article, but do also try to keep it concise and to the point. Too much detail will only bloat the length of the article and distract the reader from the actual accident itself. I.e. Name of the road is not necessary. Imagine reading a case of a hit and run of another country being reported - what type of details do the writers concentrate on? Stick to the core information would make the article much stronger. But good job so far!Zhanzhao (talk) 07:19, 13 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Understood. But I'd like to add the Korean singer. She is a key witness, but she is now missing. I know what they say, Wikipedia is not a newspaper, but key points must be there. Ok, the "road" I will change it back. Ronald2010 (talk) 08:30, 13 April 2010 (UTC)Reply
The inclusion of the korean singer should be okay I think. IMHO from the reading I get of the case, the Korean who witnessed Ionescu drinking, the eyewitness who positively identified Ionescu as the hit-and-run, and the official Romanian driver's testimony are the most important parts of the investigation. Possibly the expert-witnesses from Audi who claimed the anti-theft devices on the car made it almost impossible to steal, but that is not as critical as the 3 witnesses above. By superflous detail I mean stuff like giving the exact timing to the minute, road name, what he drank (though a mention of how much is enough is ok).Zhanzhao (talk) 09:07, 13 April 2010 (UTC)Reply
I am not sure if the current title "2009 SG RO diplomat incident" is suitable. Why I say this. "2009" - it is not that this kind of accident happens once a year. If it is like 2009 Concert, 2010 Concert, repeating once every year, then we use the year as part of the title of the event. Then Singapore Romanian Diplomat, it kind of give this incident a 'national' interest which is not the case. I explain, say Singapore Malaysia dispute over the Pedra Branca dispute we can name it Singapore Malaysia Pedra Branca dispute. The Singapore Romania incident can also mean a trade dispute between the two country. Actually, the cause of the incident is not over a dispute at national level. I am sure if someone writes a history book for Singapore, this incident won't be called "2009 Singapore Romanian diplomat incident". A bit awkward.
Actually, till now, there is not really dispute between Singapore and Romania. I am hoping for the better outcome, i.e. after the technical group has worked, they may really lift the immunity - because they (Romanians) suffered that before; and I think once they condemn the Americans using Diplomatic immunity to protect the culprit, they won't do it. It would be a laughing joke ! So, I think they are being very careful, want to do everything according to law (both Romanian and International) and they can use this to set an example as therefore also a 'protest' to what US did to them. I am hoping for this outcome. If this happen, it will be a very significant contribution to the international diplomatic immunity case law. Agree ?
Since this incident is a traffic accident by nature, not a national interest. How about the "2009 Bukit Panjang Accident" - then this is too vague, there would definitely be more than one accident in Bukit Panjang. So which one ?

At all, it is caused by a person. So can i suggest this as "The Silviu Ionescu Bukit Panjang Accidents" ?

Just some ideas for discussion. Would the other Wikipedians see this or must I paste it over their talk pages ? Unlike email, or forum, this way of communication in Wikipedia is...not very convenient. Isn't it ?

Ronald2010 (talk) 09:53, 13 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Actually I think just removing 2009 would keep the title clear enough, but I would leave it alone for now as the article is still in its genesis stage. After the article has settled down, it can be easily renamed later on.Zhanzhao (talk) 11:09, 13 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Discussion about a rename of the article would be very properly and easily had at Talk:2009 Singapore Romanian diplomat incident.  Frank  |  talk  12:06, 13 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Whoops thats true, got sidetracked here. Thanks for the catch!Zhanzhao (talk) 23:14, 13 April 2010 (UTC)Reply
