Music genres

edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. I have noticed that some of your recent genre changes have conflicted with our neutral point of view and verifiability policies. While we invite all users to contribute constructively to Wikipedia, we urge all editors to provide reliable sources for edits made. When others disagree, we recommend you to seek consensus for certain edits. Thank you. Paul Erik (talk)(contribs) 15:54, 13 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Yes, I have changed the music genres of some artists, because they don´t belong to independent discographics and are mainstream and commercial. So it's not correct to call them "indie". — Preceding unsigned comment added by RomualdoJavi (talkcontribs) 14 May 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for your message on my talk page as well. Wikipedia articles document the artists' genres at different points in their career, so some may have been "indie" at one time, even though they are not "indie" now. Also, some music critics refer to an "indie rock" or "indie pop" sound, regardless of what sort of label the artist is signed to. So we have some major-label artists documented as "indie" because enough reliable sources have referred to them as such. Your fellow editors would prefer that you contribute to discussions such as Talk:Foster the People#Disagreement on genres. rather than simply adding something that does not have consensus.
