English translation

edit

I noticed that the user boxes on your user page list countries that you have traveled. Permit me to suggest a different phrasing of your text in english. You say "This User beaten in the Poland", for instance. To many native English speakers, they would understand this wording as meaning that you have been assaulted in Poland, which I am certain that you did not mean to say. Perhaps a better wording might be "This user has traveled to Poland" or perhaps "This user has visited Poland". I hope this helps. Speaking of travel, I hope that you someday will have an opportunity to visit the United States. --rogerd 16:24, 26 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

I don't think so that your English level is basic, because you've made so many mistakes!!!

Witam Pana Serdecznie!

Och, strasznie przyjemnie mnie spotkać rodaka zza morza! Rosyjski i niemiecki z przyczyn politycznych strasznie nienawidziłem. Angielski uwielbiałem i do końca miałem z niego piątkę. A rosyjski? Z głębokim szacunkiem i poważaniem, jeszcze raz dziękując za zadeklarowanie pomocy:--Roland von Bagratuni 04:24, 21 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hello

Hi, Roland von Bagratuni! I'm a newbie member of the english wikipedia, from Georgia. I was interested in who is able to contribute with georgian language in the english wikipedia and so i found you. It's very nice from you to express an interest in history of georgia besides many other fields of interests you have. With your permission i'd like to make you a little remark towards your name in georgian you have written on your userpage: I think it's just an incorrect transcription, because i am sure that your name in georgian doesn't sound like :Roland pko Nabratuni - yes, that's what you have written. The correct transcription is : Hope it helps.

Help request

edit

Hello,

We recently put up a page on Janos Boros, the Hungarian politician from Kolozsvar and ex-vice mayor. But this has been notified by some users on Wiki for deletion. If they had asked us to improve the text, we would have happily obliged. But they are attacking the very credentials of the personality saying that his profile does not comply with neither WP:POLITICIAN nor WP:GNG. They also propose deletion as they see this page as a means to aggrandise Janos Boros. We searched the wiki for other vice mayors from Romania, to see if ex-vice mayors of Roamnian city councils and ex-vice presidents of political parties deserve and have their pages. Many of them, both ex and present have wiki pages dedicated to them. If these Romanian vice mayors can have their pages on wiki, while they some of them have not even served terms in office half of what Mr. Boros did, why not a page for Janos Boros? We are in the process of re-writing the page, as we agree with the critics that the page was poorly written. But outright request for deletion will be a biased one and unfair to our effort. If you find time, your help would be most welcome and appreciated.

Warm Regards,

Asian 10,000 Challenge invite

edit

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days. If you would like to see this happening for Asia, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Asia, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 02:27, 21 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

Europe 10,000 Challenge invite

edit

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Europe/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Germany, Italy, the Benelux countries, Iberian Peninsula, Romania, Slovenia etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. If you would like to see masses of articles being improved for Europe and your specialist country like Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon, sign up today and once the challenge starts a contest can be organized. This is a way we can target every country of Europe, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant and also sign under any country sub challenge on the page that you might contribute to! Thank you. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 21:09, 7 November 2016 (UTC)Reply
