Spiral Tribe

edit

Hey Roger, if you mean this stuff, then yes it was me who moved it to the talk page of Spiral Tribe. As i said there, I found it interesting, but the problem is that wikipedia has guidelines on what can be included and what cannot. If you want to edit on wikipedia you should read the pages about verifiability, it will help a lot. In a nutshell, it says "Material challenged or likely to be challenged, and all quotations, must be attributed to a reliable, published source".Wikipedia:Verifiability is one of Wikipedia's core content policies. The others are Wikipedia:No original research and Wikipedia:Neutral point of view.

Basically, to give an example, even if Debbie told you where the name Spiral Tribe came from, you can't put that on wikipedia because anyone could say Debbie told them something. I know you are telling the truth but it's not verifiable. And it could also be said to be original research. If what you said has been published in a book, or in a mainstream newspaper, then it is ok!! It's a bit annoying I know, hopefully but you can see where I'm coming from. The name coming from someone (Mark) talking about an ammonite shell, that's from the World Traveller Adventurer movie and therefore can be referenced.

Perhaps this sounds a bit anal, but then when building a free communal encyclopedia there have to be some rules. I really hope you want to add stuff to the Spiral Tribe, I was inspired by their parties (although too young too attend) and I think it would be cool to make the page better. For example maybe you have a photo which you took at one of the parties? It would be nice to add some images, but then you must be the copyright holder or have permission from the copyright holder.

If I can help in any way, please let me know! Mujinga (talk) 22:08, 19 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
