Hi RodW, Apologies for the delay in responding to your previous message. At Bristol Record Office we mainly hold original/unpublished archives and don’t appear to have copies of the publications you mentioned. Our online catalogue (http://archives.bristol.gov.uk) lists everything BRO has available, so you could check if we hold copies of any of the other publications you're seeking using the advanced search (http://archives.bristol.gov.uk/advanced.aspx?src=CalmView.Catalog).

If not, the local studies section of Bristol Reference Library may have copies of locally published material, so it could be worth contacting them (https://www.bristol.gov.uk/libraries-archives/reference-library). However, the quickest way might be to see if the items are listed on the COPAC library catalogue, to identify dates of publication (http://copac.jisc.ac.uk/).

The name of the pub in keinton mandeville

I happen to live in keinton Mandeville and recently added places of interest to its Wikipedia page. You then updated from "pub" to "the three castles inn" I then corrected you as it is actually called the quarry inn, you then undid my correction. I happen to frequent the quary inn and have even searched google mapped its location to ensure i am not mistaken. All in all the pub on the keinton mandeville high street is called the quarry inn. I will let you verify it yourself, if you find this to be accurate please change it back too the quarry in.

Re: TFA nomination for Bristol

Hi Rod -- The lead is certainly improving but I personally wouldn't say it was there yet; it is still a little long, feels like a disconnected set of facts with a rather promotional slant and has references. I haven't had chance to read the text but spot checks don't seem to meet the featured brilliant prose standard. A few other random thoughts... The map location is hard to read unless you already know where Bristol is. The images are all over the place and some of the captions need trimming. Why are there so many see also items? I thought refs in leads were strongly discouraged as the material should wholly be summarising material that's referenced in the body? But I don't follow the fads of the ever-changing MoS. If challenges are a problem, you could always try putting refs in hidden text in the lead -- this is what the medical project often do. Espresso Addict (talk) 16:20, 29 January 2016 (UTC)

Listed buildings in Scotland

Forgive me if this isn't your specialty - perhaps someone else watching your page might know the answer. I was up in Glasgow this weekend and took some photos of some interesting Victorian architecture...I'm sure many of these buildings are listed and was planning to upload some photos to Commons after identifying them. What I would do in England would be to get the geo-tag from the photo and find the listing using the map search function on Historic England. However, I'm looking at Scotland's designations portal and it doesn't seem to have any type of geo search. Would you know of any other resources to use? Kelly ^hi! 13:43, 7 March 2016 (UTC)

Old_Ironstone_Works,_Mells

Hi Rod - this goes back a LONG way, to an edit/comment I made to the page Old_Ironstone_Works,_Mells - apparently back in 2007! I'm not a regular visitor to the edit part of Wikipedia... Anyway, "A comment was made by an editor that this should be titled Iron works rather than Ironstone works. The title was based on the English Nature Citation sheet which is called "Old Ironstone Works, Mells". — Rod talk 20:45, 27 May 2007 (UTC)" I'm afraid English Nature got it wrong! My name is James Fussell, I was Secretary of the the FUSSELLS IRON INDUSTRY SOCIETY, and I'm a (retired) geologist with a long-standing interest in industrial archaeology (among other things). 'Old Ironstone Works, Mells' really is an incorrect title! The Lower Works at Mells was, specifically, and like the other 5 Fussells sites in the area, an ironworks where edge tools and some other iron products were manufactured, using imported pig and scrap iron, though there MAY have been some small scale smelting of ore as well. A number of sources, apart from personal knowledge, but they are listed in the References section of the page.

New FLC

Hi Rod. I have nominated List of Sites of Special Scientific Interest in Buckinghamshire for FLC and should be grateful if you have time to review it.

Do you know that List of Sites of Special Scientific Interest in Somerset is now out of date as NE has updated for the new local authority boundaries? The list has 127 sites, but NE at [1] has 188. Avon has gone and there is a new County of Bristol with only 6 sites.

I am puzzled that there is now a separate list for West Berkshire as it is the only unitary authority to have its own list. If I ever get round to working on Berkshire I would be tempted to have one list for the county on the ground that the separate list is probably a mistake by NE based on its name. Any views on this? Hi Rod, sorry to bother you. In case you haven't noticed I've been moving a lot of your photos of historic landmarks to Commons and adding amplifying information. I noticed you identified the above image as a former canal aqueduct. I was trying to locate the Historic England listing...I found this image which appears to be the same bridge, and based on the geo information found this listing (confusingly duplicated here). The list states that this is a road bridge. There is a railway viaduct nearby that is not listed. Do you think you may have confused this site with another one? I did find some derelict aqueducts from this particular canal that are now road bridges, or simply standing in fields. With much respect - Kelly ^hi! 17:23, 1 June 2016 (UTC)

How do we know the house needs another half million to renovate it? That is not public record. It may be that the Channel 4 programme said that, but that doesn't mean it is fact and indeed there were many inaccuracies in it.

The issue with the article is that it pulls a lot of this information into one source, which is not acceptable. The owner did not want the original article written, it is a private house.

Is your house value on your wiki page?

I don't see why Did you have the deciding edit. If I edit this again I don't want you to edit it back. The relationship break up for example, or the cost of the house originally is not required as public interest. You were the one who 'edited' it back....when you have no right too, given it is a 'colaborative' effort. FAC voluntary mentoring scheme

During a recent lengthy discussion on the WP:FAC talkpage, several ideas were put forward as to how this procedure could be improved, particularly in making it more user-friendly towards first-time nominees. The promotion rate for first-timers at FAC is depressingly low – around 16 percent – which is a cause for concern. To help remedy this, Mike Christie and I, with the co-operation of the FAC coordinators, have devised a voluntary mentoring scheme, in which newcomers will guided by more experienced editors through the stages of preparation and submission of their articles. The general format of the scheme is explained in more detail on Wikipedia: Mentoring for FAC, which also includes a list of editors who have indicated that they are prepared to act as mentors.

Would you be prepared to take on this role occasionally? If so, please add your name to the list. By doing so you incur no obligation; it will be entirely for you to decide how often and on which articles you want to act in this capacity. Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge

Hi there. I've started a new initiative, the Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge. It's a long term goal to bring about 10,000 article improvements to the UK and Ireland. Through two contests involving just six or seven weeks of editing so far we've produced over 1500 improvements. Long term if we have more people chipping it and adding articles they've edited independently as well from all areas of the UK then reaching that target is all possible. I think it would be an amazing achievement to see 10,000 article improvements by editors chipping in. If you support this and think you might want to contribute towards this long term please sign up in the Contributors section. No obligations, just post work on anything you feel like whenever you want, though try to avoid basic stubs if possible as we're trying to reduce the overall stub count and improve general comprehension and quality. Geography of Somerset

When I took on working on the article Geography of Somerset, I did not realise that you have been working on it periodically since at least 2009. You are welcome to join with me in trying to bring it to GA status if you wish. Some parts of the article were unreferenced and I find it easier to rewrite sections from the sources I have rather than try to find sources for the existing text, but I have no wish to offend anyone.

Not many counties have geography articles. On the whole, I am aiming to replicate the structure of Geography of Wales which I took to GA during the "Awaken the Dragon" contest. The section "The changing face of Somerset" I propose to remove entirely, the first half is essay-like and the second half is interesting but too detailed, and anyway off-topic. Hi Rod. I see Dyrham Park is up at one of the preps for DYK. The "around 1511" is mildly confusing for me as the source you use for that claim says "In 1511 a licence...." with no vagaries surrounding the year. I've even noticed that image caption which gives the precise date, not just year (Royal licence to empark Dyrham granted by king Henry VIII to William Denys, Esquire of the Body, 5 June 1511) Is there a reason you've changed it to "around 1511"? Yes, Wells, Somerset. Re the Museum, we close for casual callers directly after Bridgwater Carnival and re-open next Easter. We shut entirely from mid-December till after New Year, apart from a daily key-holder inspection. However, during shut-down, when we re-jig displays and do maintenance, visitors are very welcome by appointment.Depending on what we are doing it could be a bit messy in some of the galleries. Europe 10,000 Challenge invite
