Gloria Estefan sales

edit

The reason the 75 million amount is used on the Gloria Estefan article is because she has "only" 37.6 million copies certified by organizations that specialize in checking and auditing artist sales, such as the RIAA, IFPI, BPI, AMPROFON and many others. The sales given by her and her label are official sources and therefore cannot be used on Wikipedia, it is a rule not to use primary sources in articles. Artists, fans and record labels have been using Wikipedias around the world to boost sales and value themselves as an artist and record seller, so by consensus it's best to keep sales that are as close as possible to certified sales and not those inflated sales that are totally disproportionate to the chart performance and certifications. Please see the article List of best-selling music artists, there you will see an article that is the most realistic about selling singers, it's important to keep peges like that one and to eliminate those false and inflated sales that appear in the media and here on Wikipedia.--88marcus (talk) 03:26, 7 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

Dear Mr. 88marcus, I would like to tell you that your RIAA figures are very good, but again you make a mistake and I explain that the sense of the RIAA is not to certify the sales by units that an artist has, as the label does directly. , but rather, it certifies the award that the artist obtains, that is to say that if it reaches a sales peak, it is awarded gold, platinum or diamond records, however there are Albums, singles or videographs that do not become certified but that in the accumulation of sales between all the records and singles that people buy through the different music channels, they make a total of units that are not certified and the same thing happens to all artists or musicians on the planet, there are Gloria albums They do not have certifications, but it does not mean that they have not sold or that they are not counted as a sale, for example the unwrapped album sold 300,000 copies in the United States and the single "Hoy" had 150 thousand downloads in its first week. s for itunes and amazon, neither of the two examples had certifications but they are counted as sales in the same way if we add them together they are almost 450 thousand additional units and I only speak of a week in the case of the single ... that is why you only consider certified sales, but in Sony Music they are very different and even an update of Gloria's sales has not yet been made since 2013, so at 100 million, it must be a much higher figure that is already speculated at 120 million. Speculation about higher numbers is not enough. We need to have verifiable sources that have been published. Binksternet (talk) 21:39, 3 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
