Apologia is a long Latin word. Purdah is Indian, but shorter.

This is a direct response to your comment [1].

I think my approach had faults though the result may work out well. In hindsight I would not, as is expected, have personally notified all 12 or so topic banned editors of the request for clarification. Going back further, I could have learned earlier how to use the AE mechanism to stop the bickering that was developing.

I used only standard methods, but those necessarily require very public discussions, in which topic-banned editors chose to make inflammatory statements. I achieved a site consensus that I think may be effective in finally resolving the matter.

That is my interim apologia on the climate change case. I'm entering voluntary purdah on all the fuss because the community has endorsed my opinion extremely loudly. (In Britain the word is used of a Chancellor's seclusion prior to a budget speech).

I might have considered the future behavior of the topic banned editors. If only I had read their minds! Tasty monster (=TS ) 19:37, 27 October 2010 (UTC)
