Joe McKnight
Hi, sorry as I'm fairly new to wikipedia editing I don't know the correct protocol to use here. Just wanted to say I've edited the "death" section of the Joe McKnight page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_McKnight and added a citation to a source (NOLA) which is the same media outlet cited for the "shot while laying on the ground" claim. NOLA updated its info based on the Sheriff's press conference. News release and link to press conference video here http://jpso.com/CivicAlerts.aspx?AID=213. - @EvidenceFairy: Your fine. I appreciate it. When it comes to a death every piece of information needs to be very well sourced especially when its a case of possible murder like his death is. Its also critical if your edit contradicts what is already written and sourced, a citation is vital or the edit will be reverted. - Many thanks for your reply. It appears in this case the media outlet NOLA first published a witness account that was later refuted by the Coroner, based on autopsy findings. IMO that makes the later refutation a more reliable source. I'm slowly getting the hang of the need to cite the best available sources here. This case is highly controversial because some people want to focus on the race of the victim and have questioned why the suspect was released, when according to the Sheriff there are sound legal reasons for his decision.
