Wikipedia and copyright edit

Hello Roblomo, and welcome to Wikipedia. Your additions to Synchrony Financial have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college-level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is Wikipedia:Copyrights. You may also want to review Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Such a release must be done in a verifiable manner, so that the authority of the person purporting to release the copyright is evidenced. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are PD or compatibly licensed) it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions, the help desk or the Teahouse before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps in Wikipedia:Translation#How to translate. See also Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 22:25, 22 May 2019 (UTC)Reply

December 2019 edit

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for advertising or promotion. From your contributions, this seems to be your only purpose.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  MER-C 17:31, 14 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Request reason:

Hi, thanks for calling out the issues with the article I created for Brian Doubles. There was no intention to advertise and I while, the ban does not address a specific call out as to why I was banded I believe this was to my oversight when attempting cite Mr Doubles charity work, by linking to his actual donation page. I felt that using an expired page would not be advertising but understand that it would have been more appropriate to just use the news articles. To be clear I am in no way getting paid to make pages and do this on my own time and research. I have been editing Wikipedia articles for years and just recently have I been more interested in creating or updating pages about companies or individuals in the news. Roblomo (talk) 21:32, 17 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

Decline reason:

I don't find this request sufficiently persuasive to unblock you myself. To prevent this from being in limbo further only, I will close the request. You are free to make another to attempt to persuade another administrator to take action. 331dot (talk) 13:12, 1 January 2020 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

What is your association with Synchrony Financial? A good chunk of your edits are either about the company or its personnel. 331dot (talk) 22:45, 17 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

Hi, I have no direct association with Synchrony Financial. I was introduced to them via a issue with payment processing with my company. I was asked to sent up conference calls among key leadership and did research to create Bios on Key attendees of which Mr Doubles was one of them. While researching I noticed that centralized information was limited and what Wikipedia had on Synchrony was outdated. I prefer using Wikipedia vs corporate Bios as one can get cited references for more in depth research. After the meetings, I felt the Synchrony page needed updating and since there was not one on Mr Doubles I created one. I actually used other pages of CEOs and Company presidents as the template on what is presented.Roblomo (talk) 23:29, 17 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

Just wondering if there is additional information you are looking for? Thank you.

Sorry I took so long to come back. So your company does business with SF? I'm not going to be on much tomorrow- any other admin is free to take action without waiting for me. 331dot (talk) 19:22, 24 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

Hi, To clarify, many companies do business with Synchrony. In my situation, our company needed to discuss payment processing issues. I was asked to set up bios for our leadership, and when I was doing research, i felt that not much information on Wikipedia for the company. Afterwards, I took some of the information I created and made updates as I felt that a lot of the information i researched was helpful to the meeting and enabled "common ground" conversation etc.
