I appreciate your message. I should have left a more specific message for you, for which I apologize. This is particularly true because your edit was to a disambiguation page and was informative and clearly in good faith. So I am striking the original message.

The page entitled Deckard is a disambiguation page, as you noted. This type of page is simply used to redirect readers to one (of more than one) article with the word "Deckard" in the title. No more text than a phrase, or sentence at the most, describing the specific topic of the article should be placed with an entry. If an article adequately discusses a topic under a different title, a redirect page pointing to that article can be added. If not, at least a brief article Should be added.

There is a certain type of list or page which is similar to a disambiguation page but any entries on such a page that are not linked to an article, must have a citation to a reliable, verifiable source. This type of page, of which I believe there are fewer, can be confused with a disambiguation page.

As extensive as it is, Wikipedia is not complete. Not every topic is covered and not every article is as thorough, or well sourced, as it ideally should be. Your interest and curiosity, as well as your message, indicates to me that you are the type of person whose contributions would benefit Wikipedia and, more importantly, the readers. Wikipedia's policies and guidelines can seem rather extensive but the key points are easily digested over a short period of time. I hope you will consider making further contributions to Wikipedia. The Deckard rifle or Dickert rifle is mentioned in the article Long rifle. I have created redirect pages so the first two terms will redirect the reader to the Long rifle article where Dickert (Deckard) is mentioned. I have followed some or your added links and they more than adequately cover the info I sought.

One of the great things about using an e-reader is that a dictionary and encyclopedia are only a few finger moves away.

When I read that a character in Churchill's book was "deadly with a deckard" I surmised that it was a weapon ... and now your added links will perhaps help someone else ... though I doubt many have or indeed will in future read tge book. I downloaded it from Gutenberg only because the author's name caught my eye!

So, briefly, what should I have done?
