Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. We welcome and appreciate your contributions, but it appears you have written or added to an article about yourself, at Draft:Robert Wynne-Simmons. Creating an autobiography is strongly discouraged – see our guideline on writing autobiographies. If you create such an article, it may be deleted. If what you have done in life is genuinely notable and can be verified according to our policy for articles about living people, someone else will probably create an article about you sooner or later (see Wikipedians with articles). If you wish to add to an existing article about yourself, please propose the changes on its talk page. Please understand that this is an encyclopedia and not a personal web space or social networking site. If your article has already been deleted, please see: Why was my page deleted?, and if you feel the deletion was an error, please discuss it with the deleting administrator. Thank you. Your article

edit

I came across your article as a draft and, since it seemed perfectly satisfactory to me, I have moved it to become a full article Robert Wynne-Simmons, which is what it seems you were wanting to happen anyway. By far the majority of autobiographies submitted are from people who are not "notable" according to Wikipedia's arcane standards (WP:N) and/or have written in a self-congratulatory tone. Because your article is fine (so it seems to me) I think the people who choose to spend their time checking up on such things seem to have been rather non-plussed in this case.

I have put links to the article from The Blood on Satan's Claw and The Outcasts (1982 film). Now, someone has put a template at the top of the article which yells too loudly for my liking that it is considerably autobiographical. I would not have done this (I have checked as far as I can that the article is balanced) but I do not want to go against the label at this stage. The guidance for the use of the template is at Template:Autobiography. However, I think that if no substantial changes are made to the article or unresolved adverse comments are made on the talk page, then the template could be removed after, say, a month. I could do this myself because I have not contributed substantially (or at all) to the article. Meantime anyone who wishes can again suggest the article should be deleted on any ground they think appropriate. In theory the standards are higher for articles than drafts. Anyway, the lack of any consensus at Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/Draft:Robert Wynne-Simmons did not set a precedent of any sort.

We are close to being exact contemporaries so it is with some fellow feeling I say it would be good if you found the time to edit here on other topics in future. I'm happy to help with any scraps of advice if I can (I have been here fourteen years!). Best wishes and I'll keep half an eye on things. Thincat (talk) 12:27, 18 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

Replying to Thincat. Thank you for all your help and advice. Is it now time that the Template:Autobiography could be removed?Robert Wynne-Simmons (talk) 23:19, 25 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
