Notability of CD Publishing

edit

A tag has been placed on CD Publishing, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag) and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. FunPika 15:08, 27 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

I have updated the page to state more clearly the notability of the subject.--Robert 06:57, 2 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Re your message: The article was deleted again due to notability concerns. See Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/CD Publishing. -- Gogo Dodo 18:46, 2 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
Re your message: Another admin deleted the article the second time, not I, but you already are on the way to correcting the notability issue. If you decide to recreate the article, you need to include why the company is notable in the article with references and links for the statements. For example, you said that it was a featured at the London Book Show, you need to include that in the article with a reference link showing that it is true. When you include that the company was mentioned on TV and radio shows, you need to include references, too. If you include references, it is more likely that the article will remain on Wikipedia instead of speedily deleted. It could still be deleted through another process, though. You might want to look at List of publishers for articles on other publishers and use them for examples. -- Gogo Dodo 17:02, 3 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
You may also want to read WP:Conflict of interest since you keep inserting references to CD Publishing, a company that you appear to run. Since you do appear to be involved in the running of the company then you really can't use CD Publishing as a reference to support other articles unless you can find other independent sources. Fair use rationale for Image:CDPublishinglogo.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:CDPublishinglogo.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. FunPika 15:10, 27 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

The company gave written permission to use the logo? That would seem to be enough and that is now stated more clearly. --Robert 06:35, 2 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Welcome to Wikipedia. We invite everyone to contribute constructively to our encyclopedia. However, adding content without citing a reliable source, as you did to Lulu (publisher), is not consistent with our policy of verifiability. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. FunPika 15:15, 27 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Added content to the page Lulu (publisher) based on what was discovered from reserach for other articles. This company does provide distribution and printing services for small publishing houses. Thsi si verifiable by doing some research. For example, CD Publishing uses Lulu for prinitng and distribution. --Robert 07:03, 2 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

The new edit is acceptable as there is no link to CD Publishing. FunPika 11:18, 2 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Welcome to Wikipedia. We invite everyone to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, the external links you added to the page Curtis Doebbler do not comply with our guidelines for external links. Wikipedia is not a mere directory of links; nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, then please discuss it on the article's talk page before reinserting it. Orphaned non-free image (Image:CDPublishinglogo.jpg)

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:CDPublishinglogo.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 04:33, 29 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Commercial use of Image:Cdpublishinglogo1.jpg

edit

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Image:Cdpublishinglogo1.jpg, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Image:Cdpublishinglogo1.jpg is an image licensed as "for non-commercial use only" or "used with permission for use on Wikipedia only" which was either uploaded on or after 2005-05-19 or is not used in any articles (CSD I3).

If you created this media file and want to use it on Wikipedia, you may re-upload it (or amend the image description if it has not yet been deleted) and use the license {{GFDL-self}} to license it under the GFDL, or {{cc-by-sa-2.5}} to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, or use {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain.

If you did not create this media file but want to use it on Wikipedia, there are two ways to proceed. First, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list if you believe one of those fair use rationales applies to this file. Second, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.

If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. This bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion, it did not nominate Image:Cdpublishinglogo1.jpg itself. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot. If you have any questions about what to do next or why your image was nominated for speedy deletion please ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thanks. --Android Mouse Bot 2 07:07, 2 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
