Help with the maximum bob (singer) article

edit

{{help}} i need to find sources about the musical and performance style of maximum bob of the deli creeps. the link to the article is below. ps. why use those arow thingies to keep things hidden on the page? just dont write it. or do. thanks

User:Ritzbitz00/Maximum Bob (singer)

The arrows (<!-- -->) are used for hidden messages, or to keep a section lacking verification from sight until proper sources can be found. It is easier this way, in that someone who wants to re-add the section removed does not have to copy and paste it from the page history, but simply remove the arrows, and add citations. What specifically do you need help with regarding sources for the article? Glad to help, --Mizu onna sango15/珊瑚15 21:55, 4 June 2008 (UTC).Reply
The section about musical and performance style. i need some sort of verification. does live footage count?

See Media help. That should help you out a lot. If you have any more questions, just ask me on my talk page. :) --Mizu onna sango15/珊瑚15 18:30, 2 June 2008 (UTC)Reply
thanks, but i need to actually know how to upload the files onto wikipedia so you can use them.

undeleting the Maximum Bob article

edit

About Wikipedia:Deletion_review/Log/2008_May_22#Maximum_Bob_.28singer.29, you should go there and explain exactly which is the new information that is available so other editors can review it. Otherwise, your request will just be rejected because of lack of new information. --Enric Naval (talk) 13:50, 24 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

The artcile has been restored to User:Ritzbitz00/Maximum Bob (singer). It has has the whole history and can still be accessed and edited by you and anyone, but as not being part of regular wikipedia it won't be speedily deleted, but can be improved and evaluated without hurry. If it addresses the problems of the deletion discussion, it can be moved back to Maximum Bob (singer). Otherwise it needs to be deleted once more. Please check above links for more help on editing and also consider putting {{helpme}} on this page to ask for assistance.--Tikiwont (talk) 08:48, 30 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
With the poster and the interview mention as only citations, it is unfortunately the latter. So I would move the article back to main space and delete it again. Maybe things change if he actually releases a solo album. Best regards--Tikiwont (talk) 10:02, 24 June 2008 (UTC)Reply
It's gone. Actually I wanted to resolve this before my own vacation. So enjoy yours. Good if you took some fun / experience out of this. With respect to the talk pages, we generally keep them, so you or anyone else can pick up here in the future. But you can also archive them. --Tikiwont (talk) 07:53, 25 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Bendup.ogg)

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Bendup.ogg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 01:10, 4 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Why BJBot is doing that

edit

As I explained over at WP:ANI, the reason BJBot is doing that is because non-free content is prohibited outside of article space -- and since you are creating a draft article in user space, it is removing the images and sounds. So that's what's going on with that. Cheers, and happy-wiking! --Jaysweet (talk) 19:55, 6 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

I don't really know about the audio vs. images thing, as I've never uploaded audio. You'd have to ask someone else.
Let me try to explain again about why it is being deleted: Non-free content is prohibited anywhere except for in actual articles. For instance, I can not put a non-free image on my user page, even if that image has fair use rationale. The reason is because Wikipedia does not believe fair use can apply anywhere other than in articles, i.e. there would be no "fair use" justification for me using a copyrighted image to decorate my User page.
Okay, so you are working on a draft of an article. But since the name starts with "User:Ritzbitz00/...", it is being created in User space. So, as far as BJBot can tell, it is not an article (and technically it's not, even though you intend it to be one at some point).
I am not sure what the right solution is for you. You could wait to add the actually sounds and images until you move it into article space, perhaps? --Jaysweet (talk) 20:19, 6 June 2008 (UTC)Reply
Hey, I got this tip for you at WP:ANI:
When drafting or storing an article in user space, one can use nowiki like this: <nowiki>whatever should not be in user space, like categories</nowiki>. WAS 4.250 (talk) 21:54, 6 June 2008 (UTC)
So, even though you won't be able to preview it, if you put "nowiki" tags around your images and sounds, BJBot won't mess with them. Cheers! --Jaysweet (talk) 00:03, 7 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

thanks for the quick response. It looks great, but the compilations and "other appearances" compilations section might be a little confusing. Also, i think that the supergroup section ought to be divided into sub categories, instead of having two tables side by side. I would change it myself, except that i want to hear what you think about these changes. two heads are better than one and stuff. also, i think we should keep the solo discographies here too, unless they are already in their individual bio pages (i dont think they are).Ritzbitz00 (talk) 04:43, 31 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for your uploads. You've indicated that the following images are being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why they meet Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page an image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Replaceable fair use Image:Maximum_Bob_Deli_Creeps.jpg

edit

Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Maximum_Bob_Deli_Creeps.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ˉˉanetode╦╩ 16:21, 20 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

File permission problem with File:Hugh Pool with a lap steel 2012.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:Hugh Pool with a lap steel 2012.jpg, which you've attributed to a friend's camera. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 00:24, 2 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Roll Call August 2014

edit

With the fifth album just weeks away and loads of information is being released concerning the album, singles, tours etc. I would like as many people as possible to join in to help get some more of Slipknot's articles in the Good Article section and even help push the main page as a featured article. Just so the Project can keep an updated list of people who continue to contribute to the Project a Roll Call will happen from time to time. It is understood that over time, users may have lost interest in the Project or Wikipedia all together; if you have, it's no big deal. If you would like to keep contributing to the project please sign the list. If you do not add your name to the list by September 25, you will become an "Inactive member", this will bar you from voting in the AoF. Remember, if you ever want to join the project again, you are always welcome!!! If you are interested in continuing helping sign your name here Kevon100 Talk! Mail 20:24, 25 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open!

edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
