Welcome!

edit

Hi Rinaelyse, and welcome to Wikipedia! I've written some advice on editing here for students in Prof. Jackson's similar classes at Longy School of Music which you might find helpful. You'll find it here. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page (User talk:Voceditenore), or place {{helpme}} here on your talk page, ask your question, and another editor will come along to help. You might also be interested in WikiProject Classical music and WikiProject Composers. They have various guidelines for articles in this area and talk pages where you can ask advice from editors experienced in writing articles on classical music and related subjects. You'll find these guides particularly useful: WikiProject Composers: Guide to online research and WikiProject Composers: Copyright guidelines. Happy editing and best wishes, Voceditenore (talk) 06:03, 21 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

Your help request

edit

Hi Charina. I saw your message on my talk page. I'm guessing you want some advice on the draft in User:Rinaelyse/sandbox? I'm afraid this draft won't be accepted because the topic is already covered very extensively in an existing high-quality article. See the Jazz#History section in Jazz and in particular, its sub-section, Jazz#Origins.

My suggestion, if you want to create an article from scratch, would be to base it on one of the red linked topics in World jazz. Alternatively, you could expand an existing stub (a very short and incomplete article) on a jazz topic. See Category:Jazz stubs and its sub-categories for ideas. Let me know if you need further help or ideas. Best, Voceditenore (talk) 08:57, 16 December 2014 (UTC)Reply

Useful sources

Me again. WikiProject Jazz has a useful list of resources for writing articles on jazz topics (most of them online). You'll find it here. Best, Voceditenore (talk) 09:01, 16 December 2014 (UTC)Reply
