License tagging for Image:Bhistory.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Bhistory.jpg. Wikipedia gets hundreds of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 19:04, 5 June 2006 (UTC)

Irish rugby flag edit

It is not appropriate to use the flag of the Republic of Ireland to represent the four Irish rugby provinces. The only flag that could be used is the flag of the IRFU, but that flag is copyrighted and cannot be used in the volume that would be required on Wikipedia. Therefore, we cannot use any flag and I will continue to revert the addition of the flag of the Republic. – PeeJay 13:32, 24 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

I am not arguing any such thing. The IRFU represents the entire island of Ireland, which includes both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. Since Northern Ireland is part of the United Kingdom and the Irish island does not have its own flag, to represent the whole island with the flag of the Republic is complete nonsense. So you are completely wrong to say that politics and rugby have no relation. – PeeJay 13:47, 24 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
When they say that Connacht, Leinster, Munster and Ulster are Irish, they mean that they belong to the island of Ireland, not the country. When players play for the Ireland national rugby union team, they are not playing for the Republic of Ireland, they are playing for the island of Ireland as a whole. The tricolour of the Republic of Ireland is not appropriate to use in relation to Irish rugby. – PeeJay 14:14, 24 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Your recent edits edit

Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. If you can't type the tilde character, you should click on the signature button   located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot (talk) 14:08, 24 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. Before saving your changes to an article, please provide an edit summary for your edits. Doing so helps everyone to understand the intention of your edit (and prevents legitimate edits from being mistaken for vandalism). It is also helpful to users reading the edit history of the page. Thank you. -- Rrburke (talk) 01:54, 11 September 2010 (UTC)Reply
