Speedy deletion of The McCartney Years (band)

A tag has been placed on The McCartney Years (band) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. Proposed deletion of London Music Award

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article London Music Award, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

Music award, with no sources nor the slightest indication of impact, even within its town. Part of a Walled garden propping up a non-notable musician's articles.

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). Significance

If the artist you represent is insignificant to those living outside of the city this artist operates in, yes, there is every reason for deletion of this article. Wikipedia exists to document fame and importance, not to promote it nor host advertising. So no, it's apparent that any misunderstanding is not on my part and my tagging is WLL within norms. --CalendarWatcher (talk) 23:14, 13 April 2009 (UTC)

You have it entirely backwards: you are the one making claims and you're the one who must support them, and with more than passing stories about traffic-jamming publicity stunts. Once again, Wikipedia exists as a way to record actual notability, not enhance--or create--it. Your wikilawyering is here-by noted. But to the specifics:

• ' WP:BAND Article #12: "Has been the the subject of a half hour or longer broadcast across a national radio or TV network" Runtime 31:21 minutes, live broadcast on A-Channel on January 30'

Except that it's obviously a single local television station, not a national network, and there's no evidence of any over-the-air transmission, just an on-line video.

• 'Significant coverage"" The sources address the subject directly in detail'

Except that it's a single story from a local newspaper, its subject is the publicity stunt, and as it's only a few paragraphs in length it covers nothing in detail.

• ' The sources indicated have editorial integrity'

Except that that clause is irrelevant if there's no coverage that's applicable.

And to correct your consistent misunderstanding, yes, persons actively attempting to introduce material into Wikipedia are absolutely required, both as fundamental site policy and common sense, to provide evidence of their claims. Note that the very first sentence of that last link reads The burden of evidence lies with the editor who adds or restores material.

You've made no real attempt to contribute to Wikipedia generally, but instead are taking concerted steps to get around explicit rules in order to get your way. This leads to the obvious question as to why you're here, and to what appears to me to be the obvious answer.
