Some hints & helps edit

I saw your post on Alexf's user talkpage regarding your draft article "Jersey Strong Foundation" being deleted and thought I would post some hints/helps/advice here on your talkpage.
So, a couple of things:

  • Step back from the subject and think about it objectively, not as someone who knows the business or the people. Have there been numerous articles written about the business in newspapers and magazines? Has it been profiled on TV shows? Has it gotten independent coverage by outside writers, not in terms of "pr" releases from the organization? Is it generally regarded as a leader in its field? In other words, is the subject actually notable?
Please read the following Wikipedia guideline-articles:
You must honestly ask yourself if your subject is notable enough to have a Wikipedia article written about it. Not every business is notable enough, not every organization is notable enough, to have a Wikipedia article - Wikipedia is not a directory, it's an online encyclopedia.
  • From your post on AlexF's user talkpage it looks like you have a conflict of interest. You either work for or are closely-associated with the organization, so it is extremely difficult for you to have a neutral point of view...are you truly objective about the subject? With a conflict of interest it is very difficult to write a neutral article about a subject.
  • From your post on AlexF's talkpage it appears that this account might be used by more than one person. If this is the case, that is against the Wikipedia policy of one person per account. There has to be accountability for editing, messages have to go to the correct person, etc. People really cannot be sharing an account, everyone who edits Wikipedia needs to have their own individual account.
  • You mentioned that you have visited the Teahouse, it's a great resource. Hang out there a little bit more, read through other editors' questions, see the answers that Hosts and experienced editors post. There are other resources that can be very helpful for new editors - here are some links:
Wikipedia:ADVENTURE is an interactive video tutorial aimed at new editors.
Wikipedia:Tutorial is a read-through, article-style walkthrough - this presents a lot of information but in an article format. Some editors might find this more to their liking.
Wikipedia:Simplified ruleset is a page of simplified editing rules on one page, nice to take a look at when the rules/guidelines/policies seem overwhelming.
  • Follow Alexf's advice to you on his talkpage. Read the various help files, ask more questions at the Teahouse, and remember to sign your posts with 4 of these-> ~. They're called tildes and are up in the far left corner of your keyboard. All your posts need to be signed, the wikicode will be this: ~~~~ and your signature will look like this on the talkpage: Rhubler ([link to your user talkpage]) [Time], [Date]
