Ex-Nintendo Employee

Ex-Nintendo Employee suddenly exploded at me because I reverted him twice and added a fact tag to a sentence which he disagreed with its placement. He has been extremely insulting and uncivil, and I would like you to suggest that he stop violating Wikipedia policy. Here are some examples of his horrible behavior:

"ridiculous, pointless comments."
"his ludicrous decision"
"absolutely worthless when it comes to the project."
"he always seems to drag the articles into some stupid, pointless fight over absolutely nothing"
"ridiculous, pointless circular arguments."
"his ridiculous behavior"
"I don't really give one shred of rat tail what this user thinks, or what his opinion is regarding him or anything he does."
"but this user's behavior goes absolutely beyond the pale."
"His edits are a prime example of absolutely everything that Wikipedia behavior ought not to be." (which ironically, he said this after edit warring and calling me a worthless Wikipedian).
"because it's a plainly obvious thing that, quite frankly, is beyond completely stupid to try and fact tag."
"Anywho, I've wasted far too much time on this and I won't be responding to this guy because he'll just spend a month pissing and moaning like he did in the Seiken Densetsu article and wasting my time."
"And my time is worth more than his by a wide margin."

All comments directed at me. - A Link to the Past (talk) 08:33, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

Also, he had insulted me previously (well, in a separate but related "discussion"), and he then continued to insult me after I told him that he was being uncivil (worse insults even). - A Link to the Past (talk) 09:40, 1 March 2007 (UTC)
Hi ReyBrujo. Once again, LTTP is creating a tempest in a teapot and just trying to twist facts to make himself look good, as he has done dozens of times before. As you can notice from the edits, first he started revert warring over the article that he had attempted to attain "wikiownership" of (in his case he was shoving an unwarranted fact tag), then he tried to "recruit" me into joining little Wikiproject while at the same time continuing to maintain his revert warring. I then, quite politely I might add, responded with this edit, which reflects my TRYING to remain civil while still dealing with his EXASPERATING edits at the same time. He proceeded to insult me, then he called me a TROLL and erased my comment from his talk page. My "comment" that he decided to misquote and take out of context was merely a note I placed on MY OWN talk page (not his talk page), and it was not aimed at HIM (because I have absolutely no desire to communicate with him) but was intended to be read by page visitors in general. As you can see, he's now resorted to Wikistalking (apparently watching my talk page and my contributions) as well as his insults at the same time. As you can see, Reybrujo, this user is dishonest and doesn't have anything but out-of-context quotes in order to try and personally attack me. But when you put the entire situation into said context, things turn out quite differently. You'll note that EVERYTHING said on my talk page- from his circular arguments to his extensive history of incivility, are completely warranted. On Wikipedia, a user's worth, at least in my opinion, is certainly able to be gauged by a few things; the number of valid edits able to be accomplished while at the same time the ability to accomplish those edits while remaining civil and not getting into massive fights about those edits. I provided clear, concise evidence that the user, given his massive range of blocks for incivility, 3RR vio and personal attacks, is CLEARLY unable to maintain composure while editing. Hope things have been put a little more into perspective. Ex-Nintendo Employee 17:32, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

Hi, Ex-Nintendo Employee. No, you were not civil in your "polite" message. You were notoriously rude. I have done NOTHING to you, and yet you felt the need to bite my head off. - A Link to the Past (talk) 22:45, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

Sorry to bother you, Rey, but ENE has began to make comments about me behind my back. Would you please leave a warning on his talk page? I am tired of him demanding that I not respond to anything he says, but him being able to make disparaging comments about me. - A Link to the Past (talk) 17:46, 12 March 2007 (UTC)

Evangelion

I wanted to ask a question: if, for instance, Yoshiyuki Sadamoto would write his opinion in an article about a character in NGE, for instance (obviously, not using 'I think...' but 'Yoshiyuki Sadamoto has stated that he finds that.../...to be...'), would it be legitimate? --Shunra Hoshen —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 217.132.68.172 (talkcontribs).

That is considered original research. Wikipedia is not a publisher of original thought. We need to use information that has already been published. In fact, I remember once the author of a song did write some personal comments (how did he compose the song, when it was recorded, the recording sessions, etc), but it was all removed because it was not suitable for the encyclopedia. We would need to change a few policies to allow such texts. -- ReyBrujo 19:04, 2 March 2007 (UTC)

In that case, I suppose the other thing I wrote should be deleted. I came to this conclusion myself. (Then again, it makes a lot of sense, and it is not an opinion but a very likely theory. Does this still count?) —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 88.155.2.57 (talkcontribs).

Yes, if the conclusion was made by yourself, please remove it. Unless there is a reference to a reliable source, we can't use it. -- ReyBrujo 22:06, 3 March 2007 (UTC)

Warnings

On this user's page, seen here, you removed this user from AIV, because it had only one warning. I see two warnings, and the user vandalized the article three times. I think that should warrant a block for 24 hours. Real96 05:23, 4 March 2007 (UTC)

Replied on the user's talk page. [3] -- ReyBrujo 05:31, 4 March 2007 (UTC)
The user did three edits, and the last one clashed with the last warning (aka, both at the same time), thus I assume he got the warning as soon as he saved the article (in other words, he did not read the warning and then changed the page). I am assuming good faith (regardless of the user's actions) because I am a more experienced user and cannot be bullish at him. Note that the user stopped posting after that second warning, thus I assume he has been intimidated or reconsidered his action. Finally, blocks are preventive, not punitive, and since the user had done only three edits (and considering he hadn't edited after the warning clash), I understand there is no danger for Wikipedia in leaving him without a block. If you still think the user should be blocked for 24 hours, feel free to report him again to AIV. Cheers! -- ReyBrujo 05:30, 4 March 2007 (UTC)
I brought the conversation here, because I wanted to keep the flow together, per the rules my userpage. If the IP vandalizes again, the warning should be {{test4}} instead of {{test1}} since 1.)The vandal comes from a static IP address and 2.) The vandal has vandalized in the past. Thanks for your help! Real96 05:42, 4 March 2007 (UTC)
If he vandalizes again in a relative short span, yes. Remember, we don't punish for past mistakes. If he vandalizes again in 12 hours, how can we be sure it is a static ip and not a dynamic one? The edit history of the user demonstrates that, in a matter of few minutes, a single user vandalized the same article three times. What happens if in 12 hours the user vandalizes another article? Unless Verizon gives static ips, there is a possibility that we would be punishing someone for another user's mistakes. -- ReyBrujo 05:49, 4 March 2007 (UTC)

(reduce indent) I see your point. However, if it is just vandalism related edits, the test four should be used. Otherwise, test 1 should be used. Real96 05:58, 4 March 2007 (UTC)

Hopefully he won't bother us anymore. Cheers! -- ReyBrujo 06:00, 4 March 2007 (UTC)

Beating dead horses

The image you left on the Essjay discussion would have been better if it had been the chainsaw removal of the dead horse in Animal House. Had you yourself ever been a victim of Essjay's childish highhandedness and abuse of ill-gotten power, you'd have some better understanding of those of us who were. Meanwhile: I suggest a visit to your local city court building. Find some victims of some crimes just adjudicated. Tell them to get over it and move on. Note their reactions. Come here and report. User:Speedmarks

Thank you for looking into the vandalism. I was on a wikibreak, but someone emailed me and informed me that this user had returned and was again editing this list of articles. I won't request an RFCU on this guy as proof is more easily obtained. Simply look at edit histories of The Megocian76 (talk · contribs) and Deakke34 (talk · contribs), two puppets that popped up in December, and you'll see that they're the same articles being "attacked" - add that they're more obscure articles and not heavily edited by a large number of users, and you've got yourself a sockpuppet. Thanks. Yankees76 05:18, 5 March 2007 (UTC)

Tagging and Bands

Hi ReyBrujo- The reason that I removed the banner is because a biography is about a single person. I was also going by the bio rating tag, the first parameter of which is "living=yes/no", when assessing a group the answer to this question cannot be either. With the other band articles that I have removed from the bio project I have replaced the tag with something else, but for this one I could not find another suitable tag. I suppose that my thinking could be totally could be wrong here though, feel free to revert (if you do though, please rate the article). --DO11.10 03:56, 6 March 2007 (UTC)

vandalism inaction

Hi, Rey.

I see that you removed my request for intervention after I reported user 71.60.13.66. You said "(Removing 71.60.13.66, no edits to that article in a day, we prevent, don't punish)", which I find confusing. The user last vandalised the article I referenced a little more than four hours of my report. The user is a persistent vandal as you can see from their Talk page; why do you think a block is punishment and not prevention? -- Mikeblas 03:30, 14 March 2007 (UTC)

Project Edits

Hey, Rey. I've been thinking about your statement I needed more project edits for some time. I'm not sure I already asked you this, so I apologize if I have, but what constitutes a "project"? For example, does the Wikipedia:WikiProject Comics count as one? And if so, what articles are considered a project article? (Does it require that the article be listed on the To Do list of that Project?) I ask, because comics are a topic on which I've done perhaps more edits than on any other subject. I recently, for example, created or expanded nine comics-related articles (Captain Dynamo (comics), Dynamo 5, Scrap (comics), Slingshot (comics), Visionary (comics), Myriad (comics), Scatterbrain (comics), Maddie Warner, Mahmud A. Asrar, and Fran Bueno), and put the Comics Project box on all of their Talk Pages in order to get them assessed. Does this count? If not, then what does? And how many "Project" edits do you think would be appropriate before I qualify for administratorship? Thanks again! Nightscream 07:48, 15 March 2007 (UTC)

Why no image?

Why couldn't a box art image be used to represent that the game sold 1 million? It says right on the cover the game is a million seller. 71.1.153.79 21:23, 16 March 2007 (UTC)

Because we prefer using written sources. Also, if the game is really a million seller, there must be some magazine, some article or some news somewhere stating they are million sellers. In example, we don't reference Michael Jackson was born black and changed to white with images, but instead with written sources. While it may be harder to get them, it makes the article better (it is possible to forge an image, but it is not to forge an article in a reliable magazine). -- ReyBrujo 01:46, 17 March 2007 (UTC)

User Reported

Earlier today I reported 207.237.55.187. You removed it and said "no warning today." I was confused as to what this meant and couldn't find relevant Wikipedia rules. The IP address in question has been warned repeatedly (including a "final warning" about the Kill Bill page). Despite this, he repeatedly makes edits that reference himself, his TV show, and his production company without any citation or relevance. This has been going on for four months, as you can see from his contribution page. Despite the fact that he has been warned repeatedly and the method of his edits if painfully obvious, are users just suppossed to keep reverting his edits because he happens to spread them out over a couple of days instead of a few hours? I was hoping you could clarify procedure here. SpiderMMB 23:10, 18 March 2007 (UTC)

FA template protection

I saw your question on AIV. As I understand it, the templates on the main page are protected, but not the ones that are in the featured article itself (i.e., those that aren't on the main page themselves). I would support much broader protection, but to the best of my knowledge that's not how it's done as of now. Regards, Newyorkbrad 02:11, 19 March 2007 (UTC)

Block in alemannic Wikipedia

Hi ReyBrujo
I'm the responsible administrator who blocked you there. Thank you for your message. First, I'm afraid we thought you are a vandal. Unfortunately, our wikipedia is not very often, but still often enough, the target of vandalism. While german and alemannic vandalism is very rarely, about 99% percent of our edits in english language have to be considered as spam/vandalism. So I hope you understand our reasons for blocking you. As a immediate measure I de-blocked you now in the alemannic wikipedia. If some IP-Blocks have to be removed too, let me know. At the moment, please do not restart your "dump project". Before you do so, it would be nice if you would tell me in a few sentences, what your dump project is and for what reason/aims it exists. If that sounds useful - and I assume, an administrator wouldn't do useless things ;) - I can inform the other admins and you can create your dump project. Please answer in my domestic talk. Nintendo DS Hombrew Article, Games section

Hello!

I noticed that you reverted the link that I added to the DS Homebrew article.

I don't understand why this link is any different from the others in that section. It's a page containing old adventure games, ported to the DS. Could you please explain it to me? Also, if this is not the best method to ask about this (I'm new to editing), please tell me. This is from the page history:

Regarding this revert, spam is detected when someone adds an external link at the top of a unordered list. Also, unofficial ports of games are considered copyright violation. Volapük Wikipedia

Dear ReyBrujo, ¡gracias por el buen trabajo! (Soy brasileño, y también entiendo castellano, si prefieres...) Your statistics dump looks quite interesting. My experience in fighting vandalism is quite small (and we haven't had much of it at the Volapük wikipedia; we're apparently too small there to attract much attention). I suppose spambots can sometimes be a problem (I've deleted a couple of pages that looked like their work), and I see how your kind of stats can help. If you have any further tips about how to best use them, I'd be thankful. Are you, by the way, going to do it on a (semi-)regular basis? Like once every couple of months or so?
