March 2008 edit

Please review user name policy. Your user name appears to promote your web site of the same name and is therefore not allowed. Please review this policy and choose a new name following the instructions at that page. If you continue to post under this account you will be blocked. I cannot find any "user name policy".

So let me get this clear. I cannot provide a link at the bottom of any of your pages when I think the truth is different from what the moderator allows. And I cannot reprint the contents from that link without having it deleted (see issue directly above). And I cannot present any truths using new wording unless they are 'validated' somewhere else on the web. And I cannot use the same screen name as I exist elsewhere because your readers might just find the information elsewhere.

Seems to me that pretty well covers all the possible methods of getting any information on Wiki that is not "received wisdom". Retail Investor (talk) 15:45, 9 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Sorry, I had the wrong link. It should be WP:U. The policy very explicitly forbids usernames that promote an external entity such as a web site. Ronnotel (talk) 17:16, 9 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
A few other comments. All material must be supported by a reliable source. Publishing material from your own web site is generally considered original research and a conflict of interest. In short, you are violating a number of policies which you should review carefully before continuing to edit here. Ronnotel (talk) 18:04, 9 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion of User:Retail Investor edit

A tag has been placed on User:Retail Investor, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read our the guidelines on spam as well as the Wikipedia:Business' FAQ for more information.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on [[ Talk:User:Retail Investor|the talk page]] explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. I've already blocked this account and was just waiting to see if there was a desire to WP:CHU. In any case, I don't think we typically delete user pages do we? Wouldn't blanking the page and salting be enough? Ronnotel (talk) 20:32, 10 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
