Yeah, the freakin' tape. Rent it or buy it and you'll see. A clip of the actual theme, not the entire thing, made it's way around the internet but is very obscure. Or view some clips of the event on youtube and you'll hear the difference. Summerslam 1999 was a public domain theme allocated to Jesse Ventura on future WWF T.V. appearences and not the Highway To Hell theme by AC/DC used in 1998.

turn up the volume as it is an old faded tape for source material, but the difference between Skynard's and WWE's is there between Coachman's voice and the audio cues.

EDIT: Come on, Wikipedia's supposed to be about accurate information. WWE never used any Lynard Skynard songs and in this case they REMADE one which they've done time and time again to almost any piece of music. Anyone who thinks WWE actually used Skynard's "Sweet Home Alabama" is very mistaken. I've been watching for years before and since that event and I can tell you they never used it or promoted Skynard like they would any other mainstream music used as an event theme (Ex: Limp Bizkit contributing Wrestlemania 17 and 19's themes, & Survivor Series 2003's, Saliva having contributed themes for No Mercy 2001, Wrestlemania 18 & 23, Survivor Series 2002, Unforgiven 2004, No Way Out 2009.)

Sweet Home Alabama

Can you provide a source? Because I can provide multiple sources that say it was the theme song for the event. Also, the company WAS using mainstream songs before the event. The official theme song for SummerSlam 1999 was "Highway to Hell" from AC/DC. TJ Spyke 19:15, 16 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
