Question from Aphestus (07:48, 20 May 2024)
Hello.... How does editing work? Apparently my nitwit of a brother got himself banned indefinitely last night, according to what he told me, which wasn't much, he was merely telling the truth(although, I do know he can be rather aggressive in telling or describing) on a topic that needed "serious revision and rectification," and that he wasn't being heard or taken seriously.... Quite the contrary in my astute opinion. So, back to my question, how does editing work, as I'd love to be a contribution to what I call the earthly version of "encyclopedia Galactica." --Aphestus (talk) 07:48, 20 May 2024 (UTC)
- @Aphestus: Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! I'll send you a list of some helpful links shortly on your talk page. As for how you can contribute, I would read Help:Getting started. There's also a list of things you can do at the Task Center. Some things that I did starting out was linking pages and finding citations (there's a fun little tool for finding citations here). If you need anything or have any questions, you can ask me or volunteers at the Teahouse. Cheers! Relativity ⚡️ 00:59, 21 May 2024 (UTC)
DYK for Boot Monument
On 25 May 2024, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Boot Monument, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that a boot is the only monument in the United States dedicated to the traitor Benedict Arnold because it "was the only part of Arnold not to later turn traitor"? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Boot Monument. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Boot Monument), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Question from Aubreychandler (23:24, 28 May 2024)
Hello, I am the person that created my fathers wikipedia page years ago. Frank Garcia Paleontologist. I tried to add my name as his daughter but I was rejected. May I send you my birth certificate to prove it? --Aubreychandler (talk) 23:24, 28 May 2024 (UTC)
- @Aubreychandler: Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! Wikipedia's information comes from published, reliable sources. Adding information that might be true but isn't published in a reliable source would be considered original research and therefore can't be added. If there is a published reliable source that shows you as his daughter, feel free to add it! Cheers, and let me know if you have any further questions Relativity ⚡️ 21:46, 29 May 2024 (UTC)

How to work in Wikipedia --Rajesh.M.666666 (talk) 09:16, 1 June 2024 (UTC)
- @Rajesh.M.666666: Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! There are all kinds of things that you can do here. One thing that you should do is check the Task Center. Some more suggestions of what you can do are available on your homepage. For a list of policies and guidelines you have to follow here on Wikipedia, check this page and this page. One recommendation from me personally is to use the citation hunt tool to find citations for uncited material, which is actually really important work. If you have any further questions don't hesitate to ask me on this page. Cheers, and happy editing Relativity ⚡️ 19:21, 3 June 2024 (UTC)

A message from Belko05
Belko05 (talk) 00:07, 13 June 2024 (UTC) Hello Relativity, I'm the guy that made the edit on Pedro Miguel Arce about his cause of death. It stated on the second citation (with is from Bloody Disgusting), that Arce died from cancer. I was just adding something that technically was already there. It also included an Instagram post which stated that, "After a brief battle with cancer, Pedro passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family"
Also on an unrelated note, are we allowed to give the name of the Belgrade school shooter here because many news sites gave his name as Kosta Kecmanovic.

- @Belko05: I didn't check your edit extensively, I just saw that you added new information without adding a new source. I did check the source, and yes, you are right, it was technically sourced already. I've reverted my own edit there. Thanks for helping improve the detail on that article, and my apologies for the inconvenience that caused. If you need anything, don't hesitate to leave me a message here. A message from Ksenjamajanov
hey! i made a major revision to my Whistlegraph draft, such as an infobox, notable works paragraph, disbandment paragraph, images, more citations, etcetera.
Ksenjamajanov, 6/19/24 — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ksenjamajanov (talk • contribs) 02:58, 20 June 2024 (UTC)
- Hello @Ksenjamajanov:. I am on mobile so expect typos. The draft is still not ready for mainspace yet. It is definitely looking better tone-wise and reads less like an advertisement. An infobox is nice but is definitely not a requirement for anythingExtra information is nice. However, our ultimate criteria for inclusion is notability, and I’m not seeing why Whistlegraph is notable enough to warrant a Wikipedia article. Please read WP:GNG. The band’s own website cannot be used to establish notability, and neither can their music video or an instagram post (see WP:IND) Your other sources are not going to be enough to establish the band’s notability; also, see WP:Reliable sources. The amount of followers someone has does not mean that a subject is notable Wikipedia-wise. At this point I don’t think that you’ll be able to establish the band’s notability. However, if the band does eventually meet Wikipedia’s notability standards and has the required sourcing, then it could merit an article then. Cheers and let me know if you have any questions, although as I am travelinp, I probably won’t be able to respond promptly. Happy editing! Question from Finlitfan (19:59, 20 August 2024)
Hi there, if I have a Wikipedia page that a friend created for me, can I edit it myself? Or do I need to ask someone else to do it for me? Just wondering. I'm not aware of any errors. --Finlitfan (talk) 19:59, 20 August 2024 (UTC)
- @Finlitfan: Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! This question is a little more complicated than a simple "yes" or "no". We have a guideline on Wikipedia about Conflict-of-interest editing. In this case, both you and your friend would have a conflict of interest on the article on you. Therefore, both of you would have to follow the instructions written at the link that I linked above. In addition, if you paid your friend to write the article for you, please take a look at paid editing, although this is not necessarily the case. Could I ask which page? I could give you more specific instructions if I knew. Anyways, happy editing. Let me know if you have any further questions, I'm always here to help Relativity ⚡️ 23:47, 20 August 2024 (UTC)
