Hi. When you recently edited Denver, Ohio, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Huntington Township (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Olympics Userboxes

Greetings RedSoxFan, I noticed you posted a comment at Wikipedia_talk:Userboxes/Sports#Olympics_userboxes regarding Olympic themed userboxes. I am in fact going to be a Games Maker volunteer at London 2012 Paralympics, and struggling to find a userbox that I can put on show on my user page to that I'll be a Games Maker. I'm currently using the User:RedSoxFan274/Userboxes/2012 London plans box that you have created, although the line about "plans to be" contradicts the fact that I will be there - but anyhow it will do for now. Is it possible (or permitted) to have a userbox for Games Maker volunteers, and if so, would you be kind enough as to create one for me? I haven't a clue how to go about such a task myself. Thank you in advance! WesleyMouse 01:04, 12 February 2012 (UTC)

Hello, my family and I have been to numerous Olympic Games and I made that userbox in anticipation that we would be using this year's Games as a way to visit the UK, but, alas, I don't think that'll be happening now. I do not see why it would be against Wikipedia rules or guidelines to make such a userbox, as I've made ones myself that are so specific I thought they'd get deleted, but I'm not sure what you'd be looking for in such a userbox. (Okay, I'll be frank: unless I'm having a lapse in memory, I don't believe I know what a "Games Maker" is to begin with.) You can always try making your own userboxes with this tool, but if you elaborate a bit more I probably could make one for you myself.
RedSoxFan274 (leave a message~contribs) 01:13, 12 February 2012 (UTC)
Thank you for the speedy response RedSoxFan. In reply to your question, a "Games Maker" is a term that the organisers of the London 2012 Olympics have given to the volunteers that will be present and working "behind the scenes" this coming summer. Moe generic details on London 2012 Games Makers can be found via this link. WesleyMouse 01:22, 12 February 2012 (UTC)
Ah, you're just lucky you caught me while I was online, I'm not usually that quick! Anyway, I see what you're referring to now. "Games maker" just seemed like an odd term and it was confusing me at first. I'll take a crack at making such a userbox for you. When you see it, if you want any changes made, let me know.
RedSoxFan274 (leave a message~contribs) 01:33, 12 February 2012 (UTC)
Oh thank you ever so much. Just realized that my reply above wasn't explanatory as to the details on the userbox, so that you had enough details to create such a box on my behalf. The new userbox would need to show details to inform people that I'm a London 2012 Volunteer (aka Games Maker); and if possible using some of the colors that form part of the London 2012 Games Maker Logo. I look forward to seeing your completed work. Once again, thank you for doing this for me, I cannot put into words how much this means to me. WesleyMouse 01:35, 12 February 2012 (UTC)
Do you know of any Wikipedia articles or article sections that describe volunteer work at the Olympics? This is probably more my finicky preference than yours, but I like to have some sort of internal link in my userboxes if possible.
RedSoxFan274 (leave a message~contribs) 01:47, 12 February 2012 (UTC)
I cannot find any specific Wikipedia articles to assist in describing the volunteer work. Not sure why such an article is non-existent, seeing as the Olympic Volunteer programme has been around since 1948. I can say though, that the volunteers are also helping out with the London Prepares series which are a series of test events as a practice run. The Beijing 2008 article covers a small section on volunteers at those games. There's also a small section on the 2012 timeline about volunteers too. Other than those, I cannot find anything else, unless Volunteering is an option worth using? WesleyMouse 02:03, 12 February 2012 (UTC)
I experimented with all the many vibrant colors being used for this Olympics and made a small gallery of potential userboxes at the bottom of my sandbox. See if any of them look good to you.
RedSoxFan274 (leave a message~contribs) 02:14, 12 February 2012 (UTC)

WOW I love them all. Some of the colors clash on a few, causing my eyes to go all funky. However, I have places an   Agree next to the one that stands out the most. Thank you for taking the time to make those; and I look forward to using the finalised product in due course. WesleyMouse 02:19, 12 February 2012 (UTC)

Anaheim Ducks

Thanks for your interest to join this WikiProject, but I would like to know more about? and sorry for my English but is not good. :D Ruzo77 (talk) 08:43, 19 February 2012 (UTC)

Well, it would basically give you greater recognition for your Ducks-related edits, however, at the same time, it would place some more expectations on you to make those edits compared as to when you can just edit them at your own leisure, so it's up to you...and based on the types of edits you've been making I don't see why your level of English should be too much of a problem. For more information, you can ask this user.

Spring Training

I have restored the Spring Training game log on the Angels page . . . the anti-game log rhetoric IMO is absolutely ridiculous and I hope that you and other individual editors will support keeping these logs. I am under the persuasion that more information (as long as it is up-to-date and factually correct) is better. --CASportsFan (talk) 22:05, 9 March 2012 (UTC)

Red Sox Log

I don't think the location column is necessary but now it would take a lot of editing to get rid of them. –BuickCenturyDriver 13:33, 19 March 2012 (UTC)

This is true. If you would like to delete that column, go ahead, but personally I think it's too tedious and drawn-out a job to execute at this time. Otherwise, I'll try to remember for next season.

And it seems you're doing it right. Doesn't it look better without all the graphics and clutter? –BuickCenturyDriver 01:10, 29 March 2012 (UTC)
Yes, very much, and more straightforward as well. Using the Gameday links was simply a holdover from 2011, and I forget how that started to begin with. Thanks again!

If you'd like Yahoo.com has recaps from 2004, so if you're interested in adding a recap column to 2004's game log, feel free. –BuickCenturyDriver 20:38, 31 March 2012 (UTC)

Nomination for deletion of Template:PixarChronology2

Template:PixarChronology2 has been nominated for deletion. You are invited to comment on the discussion at the template's entry on the Templates for discussion page. Axem Titanium (talk) 15:24, 22 March 2012 (UTC)

Hi,

I'm a little concerned about your repeatedly reverting to your preferred colours in Template:WakefieldMA. Colours are discouraged in general in navboxes and that goes especially for those which are extremely distracting. Nor is there any pressing need for an image here. I'd appreciate if you reverted, seeing as this is now the second time you've reverted a different editor for such.

Also of concern is User:RedSoxFan274/North of Boston Navbox-Template Project, where you seem to be coordinating this. This isn't a Wikiproject: it's a personal project, and shouldn't be described as such in the banner at Template talk:WakefieldMA. You're perfectly at liberty to come up with your own todo lists for work you want to carry out (and of course the creation of appropriate navboxes is always welcome), but this smacks of trying to impose your own jurisdiction on your work here (in particular, enforcing a colour scheme). It would be best reworking the comments on these template talk pages to simply leave a note pointing at your page rather than some banner system.

Chris Cunningham (user:thumperward) (talk) 09:26, 27 March 2012 (UTC)

Hello.
I have done the following for you:
I hope that these actions will remedy your concerns, and that the purposes and functions of these navboxes can now be carried out in relative peace. I admit to having slight ownership problems (on both ends of the stick) as well as tendencies to edit cosmetically, and if I went overboard or erred in any way, I apologize. I recognize your signature from TfD discussions and I can tell that our viewpoints on navboxes are different, but hopefully the actions I have taken will resolve the issues without further dispute or argument.
I will continue to make navboxes for towns in this region as they tend to have scores of articles which a navbox can help to de-orphan, but in future I will tone things down when making them.
If you have any further questions, please post them here.
Thank you,

RedSoxFan274 (leave a message~contribs) 23:11, 27 March 2012 (UTC)
Fantastic: thanks so much! And sorry if my tone was harsh. Cheers! Chris Cunningham (user:thumperward) (talk) 07:19, 28 March 2012 (UTC)
Yeah, was a bit, but I don't fault you for that. Everybody on Wikipedia gets a bit frustrated over things like this and we just have to make sure we keep our cool. Glad this issue has been cleared up. I might make another user subpage just to list these templates (more like a to-do list as you mentioned), but it was foolish of me to let it proliferate into a WikiProject wannabe.

OT Losses

I changed the OT loss color from "f2f2f2" (light gray) to "ffdddd" (light red) to create uniformity on all of the game logs, including the ones I am working on for 1993-2004. The gray is now only for ties (1993-2004) and the (even lighter) red is now for the OT loss decision that was introduced in 1999. I think this will work a little bit better. --CASportsFan (talk) 00:05, 30 March 2012 (UTC)

Whatever you say, I'll go with it. Just forgive me if I forget once in a while.
RedSoxFan274 (leave a message~contribs) 00:44, 30 March 2012 (UTC)
Then again, makes me wonder if that color should also be changed on the other game log I do to avoid confusion?
