Hello, noticed a comment you left on the talk page for 168.174.253.221 regarding blocking this ip if they vandalize again. Well, they just did it again. Looking through that ip's history I can't see a single valid edit. They are all vandalism. Can we kill this guy? x3rx3s 00:00, 15 Apr 2005 (UTC)

3RR

My understanding is that the 3RR doesn't apply to simple vandalism. I think that adding 42 of the 43 US presidents to a list of "worst presidents" is both WP:POINT and vandalism. Thus the 3RR should not apply to those actions. LevelCheck 03:23, 19 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Karabakh khanate

Hi Dan,

Could you please cancel redirect of Karabakh khanate to Nagorno-Karabakh? Whereas Nagorno-Karabakh refers to a geographical region, Karabakh khanate was a feudal state that existed on that territory in XVIII c. Hi, I noticed that you changed MediaWiki:Uploadtext last week. Since then, the licence bullet point on Special:Upload is displaying as:

• Specify the licence of the file by adding the appropriate tag(s), e.g. {{[[template:{{{1}}}|{{{1}}}]]}}, {{[[template:{{{1}}}|{{{1}}}]]}}, etc. See Image copyright tags for more tags.

Matrixism vandal

Hi! You're one of the editors I've noticed reverting "Matrixism" linkspamming, so I thought you might be interested in voting on Wikipedia:Redirects_for_deletion#April_25. Matrixism currently redirects to New religious movement, and this has been used as a justification for linkspamming in the past. I believe an overwhelming vote to delete Matrixism will demonstrate a community consensus against the linkspamming, deterring further vandalism. Hi, I notice that you've deleted Wikipedia which is linked from main page. Can you explain why you did that? Even if you're moving it elsewhere you could've moved it first, fixed the links and then deleted it. I'm trying to restore the article but the server is slow. Template:Commons

I know all about the "wrong version" argument and all, but I wish you'd protected it on a version which doesn't unnecessarily waste server resources by incorporating that meta-template Template:Sisterproject. In the absence of anything else, and ignoring even me, this project's database developer has asked us not to use templates in that way. See Wikipedia:Avoid using meta-templates.   • Would you also protect a page where the last edit was vandalous, enshrining it? That would be one page, but I'm sure you wouldn't let it stand. This template (and others like it) are used on thousands of pages in total, and regarding Template:Sisterproject specifically, database developer User:Jamesday said "Please avoid creating a single template which is used on more than a small percentage of the pages on the site". Please treat this like any other sort of disruption to Wikipedia. This isn't a stylistic or content dispute, it is about a couple users who insist on doing exactly the opposite of what's been asked of us by the preeminant authority on Wikipedia's server resources. Please consider helping me, not just with this template, but them all. Introduction templates

I am not an admin so I can't. Can you unmove the Introduction template that User:MarSch moved. Template:Introduction1 and while you are at it protect Template:Please don't change this page and Template:Please don't edit this page until he slows down, talks about his changes and uses a sandbox more effectively for complex edits. Cuba-stub

Hi - I've just discovered your stub template {{Cuba-stub}}. Stub templates are normally created after a lengthy debating process at Wikipedia:WikiProject Stub sorting/Criteria, which determines whether the proposed template will fit in with the stub category hierarchy and - most importantly - whether there are enough stubs to warrant the creation of a new stub type. In the case of Cuba-stub, in one month only three articles were put into the category, and of them two were geo-stubs not general stubs (and as such should have been stubbed with {{caribbean-geo-stub}}, as there are far too few cuban geography stubs to warrant a separate category). I've listed your template at Wikipedia:WikiProject Stub sorting/Criteria#Newly-discovered stub templates - if you'd like to comment about it there, feel free to do so! About editing pages

I edited another page to correct inaccuracy; I didn't see your messages yet. I didn't mean to vandalize anything; I must have thought that EVERYONE could edit pages. Still, I am sorry for my actions, and I promise to edit pages only when I have signed up as a member.

EDIT: Oh, after checking up on the rules, I realized that I had not been doing anything wrong; it's okay for anyone to edit pages. I guess I got a message intended for someone else. My mistake.

French nobility

hi dan, well that´s what I would like to know as well? the Count of Paris is listed as Comte de Paris, as is the Duc de Berry and the Duc de Broglie. It´s vicomte Cavaignac and not Vicsount Cavaignac, and princesse des ursins and not Princess of Ursins. which is fine, because they are French and have french names and titles. If you also look at Karl Ritter von Ghega, the name is kept in German, and not in english. because in english, the translation would make no sense (Charles Knight of Ghega?). So what is the policy here? I moved them in order for the listing to be consistent. My opinion is that this is an english-language website, but Wikipedia is all about authenticity, right? Then the authentic name would be in the original language. Just like everyone is learning english, english-speakers would do well to learn the native written way and name as well... I feel strongly that it is a bad idea to be subst: templates that are part of an open TFD, since it prevents people from using the "What links here" button on the template to see how and where they are used.

Forgotten FPC?

Hi Dan,

Thanks for that. I remember the image and rather liked it. Looks like I didn't close the nomination on this one, but I do occasionally find problems with saves on some of the FP pages not actually saving. I'd guess that's what happened in this case, as its correctly placed on several of the other FP archiving pages.

Unfortunately I'm too tired to fix it now, but I will try and get to it in the morning. It is more than likely that there are others missing from one of the pages, or placed in the wrong section. -- Solipsist 22:02, 21 Jun 2005 (UTC)

There seems to be few contribs, so maybe you scared him off, which means I have to question someone else.

FPC

When I said quality, I meant file quality not photographic (style) quality. The file seems noisy to me. Especially near the front of the car it seems pixelated or fuzzy or noisy (i can't really explain it). It's most evident in the black at the bottom of the page. My other concern is the lack of detail on the figure (the main subject). I can't really see the figure's face and because of the angle. It really is a fairly small concern and if the vote is close I will reconsider. This link is Broken 04:00, 22 Jun 2005 (UTC)
