U2 influences

The problem with structuring the sentences that way is that it comes off as POV and is slightly incorrect. Some of the artists listed at "main influences" aren't termed such in the references, while New Order is called their biggest influence in the reference provided. I think it's more straightforward and less POV to just list them all as "influences" in a single sentence; it's not like there's many of them anyway. WesleyDodds 21:51, 30 June 2007 (UTC)

A list of U2's other video releases can be found here. The band have returned from Fez, Morocco, working on their album. According to Adam, “There’s definitely an album in there.” Some possible songs include: “Mercy”, “If I Could Live My Life Again”, and “North Star”. U2's new film, U23D, is due for 3D theatre release later this year. The Republican National Committee has taken the first step to endorsing Bono’s ONE initiative, with a potential donation of 30 billion dollars in U.S. taxes. Their most recent song is a cover of the John Lennon song, Instant Karma! for the album Instant Karma: The Amnesty International Campaign To Save Darfur. All proceeds go to Amnesty International. There will also be a special edition when the new album is released. Also thanks to Neranei for some of the U2 news. New Members We have two new members since the start of the month! They are Vero444 and MC. We now have 38 members! The Album It was released on November 2004. It was distributed by Island Records and Interscope in the U.S.A. The album was a critical and commercial success. It went to #1 in many countries and sold over 9 million copies worldwide. Bono described the album as "our first rock album. It's taken us twenty years or whatever it is, but this is our first rock album." The album deals with love, war, peace, harmony, and approaching death. The singles released from the album are: Vertigo, All Because of You, Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own, City of Blinding Lights and Original of the Species. More info from the album page here. The Who

Hi! I'm Sirabder87 from it.wiki and I'm working on the italian version of The Who page. We're having a dispute about Who's genres, about including or not proto-punk. It seems in english page's history that you and an unregistred IP have had an edit war about it (11th-20th June). In the end, proto punk has been definitely replaced by pop. Should you tell me why? On front cover of All That You Can't Leave Behind is a very subtle Biblical reference. In the background J 33-3 can be seen. From the Editors Welcome to the September Edition of the U2 WikiProject Newsletter. The theme for this newletter is "All That You Can't Leave Behind". We hope you enjoy reading it! New Members Our new members this month are Keeper76 and Jort227. We have now reached 40 members. The Album The album was released on October 30, 2000. It debuted at #1 in 28 countries and sold over 12 million copies worldwide. This album marked the end of U2's experimental phase in the 90's. However, they did not really return to their more traditional rock sound until How to Dismantle An Atomic Bomb. Rolling Stone called it "U2's third masterpiece". The song "Stuck In A Moment You Can't Get Out Of" was written by Bono for his late friend, Michael Hutchence. On several occasions the band said that they were "re-applying for the job of the best band in the world" with this album. The singles released from the album are: Beautiful Day, Stuck In A Moment You Can't Get Out Of, Walk On and Elevation. Take a look at the All That You Can't Leave Behind article for more info.

U2 News On September 28, Bono was jointly awarded the Philadelphia Liberty Medal along with DATA. The medal is awarded to recognize leadership in the pursuit of freedom. Three U.S. Presidents, Nelson Mandela, Viktor Yushchenko, Colin Powell and Kofi Annan are among those who have been awarded it. In his acceptance speech, Bono spoke of those who don't have their liberty and urged Americans to keep working to solve the world's problems. More info here. U23D, U2's upcoming movie, will not be released until early next year. U2's recent biography, U2 By U2, is now available in paperback in the U.S. The 20th anniversary edition of The Joshua Tree will be released soon; the bonus content includes the Red Hill Mining Town video, often sought by fans. Project News Larry Mullen has reached Good Article status! Our first piece of featured content; List of U2 awards is completed. Where the Streets Have No Name is our latest GA. Member News There were no new members this month. Did You Know? Bono is the only person to have been nominated for an Oscar, Grammy, Golden Globe, and Nobel Peace Prize.	From the Editors Welcome to the November edition of the WikiProject U2 Newsletter. This month's theme is Zooropa, one of U2's most experimental albums. We hope you enjoy reading it! New Members The Album Zooropa was released on July 6, 1993. This album, along with Pop, is considered one of U2's most experimental. It was originally slated to be an EP, but expanded into an LP. It was recorded in between legs on the Zoo TV Tour. Zooropa features a rare lead singing performance by The Edge, on the song Numb. The names of three unfinished songs from the recording sessions -"Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me", "If You Wear That Velvet Dress", and "Wake Up Dead Man"- appear superimposed on the cover; "Hold Me Thrill Me Kiss Me Kill Me" was used in the Batman Forever soundtrack, and "If You Wear That Velvet Dress" and "Wake Up Dead Man" were included on 1997's "Pop". "Numb" was released in an unlikely format as the first "video single"; the "Numb" video is thought of as one of U2's best. "Some Days are Better Than Others" is the only track to have never been played live. The singles from Zooropa are "Numb", "Lemon", and "Stay (Faraway, So Close!)"

Keane

Please stop classifying bands like Coldplay and Keane as a Britpop. Although they were certainly influenced by the Britpop genre, they are most definitely not Britpop. -- Scjessey (talk) 14:28, 24 November 2007 (UTC)

One question? How can The Killers be classified as Indie Rock and Synth Rock? Do you have sources for this information? Van Morrison article

I'm confused by your removal of the R&B genre from his infobox. As an example, I have always seen reviews listing his biggest hit, "Domino" as an example of his tribute to this genre that he grew up listening to. Suggestion...

Hello there

I notice the minor edit warring over at U2 re the "post punk" genre. My suggestion would be to open this for discussion on the talk page and get consensus for the inclusion of the genre. Providing good references will help your case.

I don’t actually have an opinion either way on the post punk genre, but using talk page and establishing a consensus will help you in maintaining the inclusion in the longer term (if indeed inclusion is what people agree with). If you establish a good case, and then consensus, I and most likely others will support you to keep the genre in. However, my suggestion would be to leave it out for now if it gets reverted again until you get consensus. Ie, the slow revert. Let it go for the short term, then establish you case for longer term inclusion.
