July 2010 edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to make constructive contributions to Wikipedia, but at least one of your recent edits, such as the one you made to The O2 (Dublin), did not appear to be constructive and has been automatically reverted by ClueBot.

  • Please use the sandbox for any test edits you would like to make, and take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Note that human editors do monitor recent changes to Wikipedia articles, and administrators have the ability to block users from editing if they repeatedly engage in vandalism.
  • Cluebot produces very few false positives, but it does happen. If you believe the change you made should not have been detected as unconstructive, please report it here, remove this warning from your talk page, and then make the edit again.
  • The following is the log entry regarding this warning: The O2 (Dublin) was changed by Rasbora100 (u) (t) deleting 21029 characters on 2010-07-13T17:06:28+00:00 . Thank you. ClueBot (talk) 17:06, 13 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Some quite dramatic edits edit

For an editor around for just over a week you seem to have gotten up to speed quite quickly. We all want to assume good faith, but have you contributed here before? RashersTierney (talk) 23:38, 16 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hello, yes I have contributed here before in the past. It was just a matter of forgetting my password that I had to set up a new account. Anyway, I will explain my edits: I moved the 'International rankings' table to a separate heading in order to make room for a missing graph image (i.e Irish population during the twentieth century), and to make room for a new table I created (i.e Non-Irish nationals living in Ireland). I think that a table like this is important, as it is probably the most common reason why people look at the 'Demographics' section in the first place. Another reason why I moved the 'International rankings' table was because demographics are the "characteristics of a human population", and I'm pretty sure that statistics on GDP, GNP or Co2 emissions etc. have no purpose there. As can be seen on the articles of most countries (e.g United Kingdom and Sweden), international rankings and demographics are separated. A minor edit, which I forgot to mention, was moving 'Justice' and 'Foreign relations' under 'Governance'. I did this as they are associated with governance, and aren't really important enough to give them their own section. I think it also makes the article easier to read. I also changed the design of the tables, which shouldn't be an issue, as it's just the simple fact of them looking better than the current ones. Overall, the content remains the same, with just a few updated statistics in the 'International rankings' table. I realise that the edits were a bit extensive, and I shouldn't have done them all at the same time. I hope this is a logical explanation. I won't revert anything until I receive a reply from you, and I will take into account any issues you may have with the edits. Thank you. Rasbora100 (talk) 11:17, 17 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
Hi. As you'll have noticed, I've restored your edits following your comprehensive explanation above. The article is semi-protected as it has been a regular target of disruptive editing by new Users. It might be an idea in future to flag such substantial content changes at the Talk Page to reduce the risk of widespread acute myocardial infarctions to the regulars there :- ) I'm not saying I necessarily agree with all your changes, but at least now its possible to get a handle why you made them. Best. RashersTierney (talk) 01:31, 18 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
ps As a matter of interest, what was your former account? RashersTierney (talk) 03:20, 18 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open! edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge edit

Hi, at Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge we're striving to bring about 10,000 article improvements and creations for the UK and Ireland and inspire others to create more content. In order to achieve this we need diversity of content, in all parts of the UK and Ireland on all topics. Eventually a regional contest will be held for all parts of the British Isles, like they were for Wales and the Wedt Country. We currently have just over 1900 articles and need contributors! If you think you'd be interested in collaborating on this and helping reach the target quicker, please sign up and begin listing your entries there as soon as possible! Thanks.♦ --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 13:42, 28 September 2016 (UTC)Reply
