Re:AWB edit

Hi Rahul, I have no experience with using AWB behind a proxy. Please wait until the AWB developers and others respond to your question on the talk page. Ganeshk (talk) 15:14, 16 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Welcome to the translation project edit

We have a number of medical articles ready to be translated listed here [1]. The overview of articles we are planning on working on over the next few years is here Book:Health care. --Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 04:54, 21 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Welcome to Wikipedia, Rahul edit

Although some prefer welcoming newcomers with cookies, I find fruit to be a healthier alternative.

Hello, Rahuldeshmukh101, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like this place and decide to stay.

Why can't I edit some particular pages?
Some pages that have been vandalized repeatedly are semi-protected, meaning that editing by new or unregistered users is prohibited through technical measures. If you have an account that is four days old and has made at least 10 edits, then you can bypass semi-protection and edit any semi-protected page. Some pages, such as highly visible templates, are fully-protected, meaning that only administrators can edit them.
Where can I experiment with editing Wikipedia?
How do I create an article?
See how to create your first article, then use the Article Wizard to create one, and add references to the article as explained below.
How do I create citations?
  1. Do a search on Google or your preferred search engine for the subject of the Wikipedia article that you want to create a citation for.
  2. Find a website that supports the claim you are trying to find a citation for.
  3. In a new tab/window, go to the citation generator, click on the 'An arbitrary website' bubble, and fill out as many fields as you can about the website you just found.
  4. Click the 'Get reference wiki text' button.
  5. Highlight, and then copy (Ctrl+C or Apple+C), the resulting text (it will be something like <ref> {{cite web | .... }}</ref>, copy the whole thing).
  6. In the Wikipedia article, after the claim you found a citation for, paste (Ctrl+V or Apple+V) the text you copied.
  7. If the article does not have a References or Notes section (or the like), add this to the bottom of the page, but above the External Links section and the categories:
==References==
{{Reflist}}
What is a WikiProject, and how do I join one?
A WikiProject is a group of editors that are interested in improving the coverage of certain topics on Wikipedia. (See this page for a complete list of WikiProjects.) If you would like to help, add your username to the list that is on the bottom of the WikiProject page.

Marathi Medicine edit

How do the list of topics you are planning on working on compare to what we have here Book:Health care? Are you planning on translating from English into Marathi? If so have you been in contact with Translators Without Borders? They have a bunch of useful tools that can help with translation. Great to see you active. hi edit

Hi Rahul (From France),

I really enjoyed yesterday's banning game, it was fun for sure.

I guess your specialty is banning people not from your group, that's my Innocent understanding based on your mere warning to member zadazadti (I guess he is MVK as if you don't know.)

I am just wandering where were you when maihudon was thrown out of the wiki ... ahh that language by bheemra.. was acceptable to you (ahh ... I guess he is also from france ....... my mistake)

Coming back to business, Banning IP is a childish ploy to maintain your (I mean you and your family circle) monopoly over Wikipedia. Besides what's your credibility, you where no where on marathi wiki suddenly came out to ban people. (ahh you wanted to save some one )

I will be writing to Jimmy wales and other office bearers of wikipedia, untill I get response regarding atrocious behaviour of the marathi wikipedia admins. My demand is to remove all the admins and have stewarts to control marathi wiki for one year.

Everytime I will write to them you will be in cc, I will also post them on my blog for this purpose

please check mail for details — Preceding unsigned comment added by Fan of Joker (talkcontribs) 19:18, 26 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Feature – Ebola articles edit

Electron micrograph of an Ebola virus virion

During August we have translated Disease and it is now live in more than 60 different languages! To help us focus on African languages Rubric has donated a large number of articles in languages we haven't previously reached–so a shout out them, and Ian Henderson from Rubric who's joined us here at Wikipedia. We're very happy for our continued collaboration with both Rubric and Translators without Borders!

Just some of our over 60 translations:
New roles and guides!

At Wikimania there were so many enthusiastic people jumping at the chance to help out the Medical Translation Project, but unfortunately not all of them knew how to get started. That is why we've been spending considerable time writing and improving guides! They are finally live, and you can find them at our home-page!

New sign up page!

We're proud to announce a new sign up page at WP:MTSIGNUP! The old page was getting cluttered and didn't allow you to speficy a role. The new page should be easier to sign up to, and easier to navigate so that we can reach you when you're needed!

Style guides for translations

Translations are of both full articles and shorter articles continues. The process where short articles are chosen for translation hasn't been fully transparent. In the coming months we hope to have a first guide, so that anyone who writes medical or health articles knows how to get their articles to a standard where they can be translated! That's why we're currently working on medical good lede criteria! The idea is to have a similar peer review process to good article nominations, but only for ledes.
