December 2022 edit

Hello, I'm Materialscientist. I noticed that you made a change to an article, INS Rana (D52), but you didn't provide a source. I’ve removed it for now, but if you’d like to include a citation to a reliable source and re-add it, please do so! If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. Materialscientist (talk) 09:38, 18 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hello. The addition made by me was by view of the commissioning dates of active destroyers in the world, taken directly using the Wikipedia page on Destroyers.
Rana is the oldest destroyer in active service with its original operator (having been commissioned in June 1982). The only ships older than her are the former American Kidd-class destroyers (originally commissioned between March 1981 and March 1982) that were sold to Taiwan in May 2003 (having spent 3.5 to 5 years in reserve). Other ships of a comparable age that are classified as destroyers by the respective navies but are not internationally considered destroyers are the PNS Tariq (ex-HMS Ambuscade, a Type 21 frigate), the Almirante Brown-class (MEKO 360H2 design), and the Iranian Moudge-class.
As such, there is no source for this, since no article has been published about the same. The addition made by me was purely through witnessing the commissioning dates of other destroyers. Thanks. R Anant (talk) 10:14, 18 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
If you have gone through my previous message, I would like to ask you if it would be okay to reinstate the addition as removed by you on the page for INS Rana (D52). Thanks. R Anant (talk) 12:46, 18 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
