Thanks for your help.

I am currently checking with the source of the image for proper copyright attribution. The image is owned by Jerszy Seymour Design Workshop but is copyrighted by a Hamburg photographer listed in the metadata. Sorry for confusion.

Hi Marchjuly,

Thanks kindly for this reminder. I absolutely believe in the autonomy of Wikipedia from promotional and commercial interests. I am a writer, critic, academic with a research focus on the intersection between art and architecture and have noticed that many important inter-diciplinary practitioners are not included on Wikipedia. My aim is to add my expertise in this area to Wikipedia.

That's fine, but none of that doesn't necessary mean that neither WP:COI nor WP:PAID aren't applicable to your situation. You need step out of yourself and self-assess whether they do because you can find yourself starting to have problems with others if your editing seems to indicate that they might. You might also want to take a careful look at WP:EXPERT for reference. Content experts are most welcome, but they're not given carte blanche to do as they please. Content experts who mistakenly assume their knowledge makes them exempt from needing to follow Wikipedia's various policies and guidelines are often seen as being WP:NOTHERE and end up running into problems as a result. Finally, while I did respond to your question at MCQ, so did another user named Ww2censor. A question may sometimes be responded to by multiple people and it's generally a good idea to address your replies accordingly when responding to someone's response. -- Marchjuly (talk) 20:09, 20 March 2023 (UTC)

Thanks for your info, I am a researcher and teacher working in the field of art and architecture and my intention is to to add significant practitioners that are not included in Wikipedia that I have studied, written about and have some expertise on. I don't have too much experience with Wiki editing but do have art expertise to offer. I tried to make the Seymour page neutral and similar to other artist pages. I will follow your advice and submit a page through the draft space for review and include disclosure of course. I have written about Jerszy Seymour previously and did teach with him 7 years ago so have met him. I realize this could make for a non-biased view but I am not paid or doing promotion work and focusing on the facts which are already found online. Are there specific parts of the page that I submitted that I should not include? An editor having expertise in a subject, while helpful, is actually irrelevant on Wikipedia. The reason an editor's expertise is irrelevant is because we are required to rely on significant coverage in reliable independent sources for all information in an article. The expertise should already be represented in those sources.

Therefore, when writing an article, one doesn't first write the prose and then find sources to support it. That's backward. Instead, one collects the sources first (making sure they comply with requirements in WP:Golden rule), then you write the article based on what those sources say. Expertise in a topic isn't required for that. The only expertise really needed is the ability to identify reliable sources, distill information from those sources, and write in a detached neutral manner. ~Anachronist (talk) 18:11, 31 March 2023 (UTC)

Hi ~Anachronist,

Yes this is the process I went through: I looked for all the sources and then based any writing on this. All the writing is referenced to specific sources. I describe the practice in general similar to other articles and then went through his themes with listed projects. There are many sources listed in the wiki page. I am just wondering why the article does not sound neutral since the information comes from credited sources. Please let me know if you can suggest further editing. Thanks!
