Orphaned fair use image (Image:Houston International Festival.jpg)

edit
  This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Houston International Festival.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image can be used under a fair use license. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. howcheng {chat} 21:12, 24 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for uploading Image:Skyline of Houston.jpg. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. I do not understand why the criminal gang mention was an issue - It is sourced by a Houston Chronicle article - I will revert it back once... WhisperToMe 00:58, 2 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Houston article

edit

Why were the wikilinks removed from the images? Postoak 02:53, 2 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

They were already in the text so I removed excessive ones in the captions. —RJN 03:03, 2 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
The gallery looks great..wish we had some nice, new pics to go there. Postoak 21:27, 2 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Peer review is in progess for Houston, Texas at Wikipedia:Peer review/Houston, Texas/archive1. Please participate with the article improvement suggestions that will soon follow. Thanks, Postoak 00:12, 6 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Loodog removed Dick Dowling from the article, it needs to go back. Postoak 07:18, 16 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Texas

edit

Texas looks ready for GA. Did it go to peer review once before? The images seem to all be of Houston, I think these should be changed: Mass transportation -> DART light rail, Education -> UT in Austin. What do you think? Postoak 21:11, 3 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Retired Box

Hello. If you're back could you please remove the black box on your user and talk page? It's a little misleading. Thanks! Tennis DyNamiTe (sign in) 02:32, 6 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Not Just NYC

edit

New York City, Los Angeles, California, [[Chicago, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Boston, etc... If we want any consistency in wikipedia whatsoever, we stick to the following

  1. No subheadings on main page.
  2. Yes subheadings on the history split off page.

Image:BayouPlaceHouston.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:BayouPlaceHouston.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sherool (talk) 11:30, 7 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for working on those images, I didn't expect anyone to to it so quickly! :D - cohesion 08:00, 8 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
Oh yeah, I did email the mayor's office also to ask for an image but of course haven't heard back yet, maybe this weekend or next I can actually get out and take some photos of some of those places too... :) - cohesion 08:06, 8 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Infobox Houston

I was changing this exactly the same moment you were because it appears it was vandalism. But what is the difference between the "I" and "i" versions? Postoak 23:37, 10 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

I don't think there is a difference. —RJN 23:38, 10 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hey there..check out this image..this is incredible :) [2] Postoak 02:18, 14 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

What do you suggest we use this picture for? RJN 02:33, 14 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

I'm not sure, I just thought it was a great pic. It could work for midtown. Postoak 02:40, 14 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

How do you feel about this picture replacing Greenway Plaza for the Houston article under "Cityscape"? RJN 02:42, 14 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
Yeah, that would be great. I wonder how this would look of the buildings and parking lot at the bottom were cropped? Postoak 02:46, 14 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
THis is going to get zapped but....

Looks great without the parking lot! RJN 02:58, 14 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
I updated the license Postoak 03:03, 14 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Maybe the file name should be something else other than "Cropped." I like the picture because it's rare to find an image with Midtown in it and most images of downtown are taken from the west. RJN 03:05, 14 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Renamed and uploaded..I need to delete the other file Postoak 03:16, 14 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
