Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Star Pirates

Please do not comment an editor's choice of posting anonymously and the possibility of off-wiki reprisals for voicing their opinions. Such comments are not helpful to gaining a consensus at the Articles for Deletion. Please keep all discussions on the AfD focused on the game as it pertains to Wikipedia, not what may or may not happen off Wikipedia. Thank you. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 05:52, 14 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Re your message: Since you offered to remove your comment and agreed to its removal, I have removed it from the discussion. Thank you for understanding. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 06:15, 14 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Please do not remove, edit or move other editor's comments on the articles for deletion. You may note that you believe that two IPs may be the same person, but do not merge comments or overwrite them. The closing admin will determine if any double !voting has occurred if you note your concerns in the AfD. Thank you. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 05:51, 16 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Re: Question regarding legitimate sockpuppet

Re your message: Instructions on informing the Arbitration Committee or a CheckUser about a legitimate sockpuppet are available at WP:SOCK#NOTIFY. You should probably explain why you feel it is necessary to use an alternative account to your existing one. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 06:08, 14 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Answering Questions you asked on StarBaby5's Talk Page

edit

Hello Quasi: Re your message: "If you and Shinobi1991 agree we can merely delete the two sections in the AfD where you question me regarding the username" -- I agree. I appreciate your movement to changing the name; it's appreciated and I'll happily support cleaning up the details around that. So you or an admin are free to erase that part of the thread if Shinobi agrees.

You asked for some further feedback from me personally, and so as for the AfD in general, I appreciate your comments of the past 2 days. They are definitely fair and appreciated you mentioning we're not looking for publicity for the games (per se) nor trying to meatpuppet the AfD. I think you raise a very good point about what's a notable enough citation. Every system, including the very busy Wikipedia, needs systems and filters. It may not be the best system for games, but it's the present default system and that's that. So yes I agree that your attempts to ensure the system was followed were correct. I think, as you say, the usage of a name from inside StarPirates coupled with what seemed like an attempt to avoid registering any conflict of interest is what really got the juices going. I know (now) that's not what you were trying to do, but to explain how it was initially perceived, if you take a step back you can see how that could be the default assumption. As you know we boot out a fair number of trolls from the games, and they quite often some want revenge. Although I personally feel bad for those folks, it can't be a fun life, if I can't help them then I have duties to ensure they don't interfere with the community. It was confusing if that responsibility included here or not.

Anyway, all is well that ends well. I think the system is working properly here now, as the heat is (mostly) gone. I'm pretty sure I know the outcome but let's see how it goes. I hope I gave you the answers you were looking for. If i had a time budget here it'd be way over, so I won't be answering any more Qs nor likely involved in the AfD. Now, I have to go and catch up on game related stuff as this has been a fair dinkum distraction. Be well. 20:26, 15 December 2011 (UTC)

Feel free to delete it if you'd like. (Sorry for the late response, been without internet access all weekend) Shinobi1991 (talk) 00:59, 20 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
