B8

Qualle, thanks for fixing the image on the B8 page. I don't suppose you could also bring over the map from the German page, and long-term the same thing for the other key German roads? --Doric Loon 07:27, 2 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

The number signets are already available on commons following the sae naming conventions. As for the maps: I'd like to do some standardization in de first. I probably won't find the time before the christmas break, but I'll keep it in mind. --Qualle (talk) 12:03, 2 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

German Distant Signal diagrams edit

Why do mechanical Distant Signals showing "Expect Proceed at reduced speed" display yellow over green, while Light Distant Signals showing "Expect Proceed at reduced speed" display green over yellow?

BTW, nice diagrams.

Tabletop 09:24, 6 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Simple: Because I was too tired when I made the diagram ;-) - should be fixed by now.
Unfortunately, distant/home signals are gradually phased out. Combination signals (Ks) are becoming more common and those can't be described as simple as stop - proceed - slow. Maybe I'll find the time next weekend. There are some good sites on the Ks-system on the net [1] - it's hard to find a good description without copying them. --Qualle (talk) 10:34, 6 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Category:DB locomotives edit

I re-added Category:Locomotives by railway to this category, for consistency. Category:German locomotives cannot be a descendent of Category:Locomotives by railway]], so they are not duplicates. Thanks, —Matthew Brown (T:C) 10:24, 7 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

The problem with this is that several German locomotive classes belonged to several railway companies, which were/are all state-owned. So I think there should definitely be a parent category above DB, DBAG, DRG, DR, Prussian railways, Bavarian railways and all the others - All these companies were related, locomotives passed from one to another. So, unless you want a dozen or more German stat-owned railways (not to mention several hundred private ones) in Category:Locomotives by railway, there should be some intermediate category. Category:German locomotives appears to be the natural choice to me. --Qualle (talk) 10:32, 7 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
Hmm, you do have a point there. I was just trying for consistency with other categories for railway systems that remained more whole and unchanged. —Matthew Brown (T:C) 11:31, 7 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

By the way, thanks for working on the German railways pages - they've been seriously deficient for some time. I've been working on translating a few de: wikipedia ones. —Matthew Brown (T:C) 11:32, 7 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

As far as a naming convention goes, I've been naming the articles with the first railway system that owned them, and creating redirects for later; thus Länderbahn locomotives are given the name of the state railway that built them, ditto for DRG, DR, DB, DBAG etc. Think that makes sense? —Matthew Brown (T:C) 11:34, 7 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

de naming convention certainly make sense, so there's nothing wrong with applying them here as well. --Qualle (talk) 07:14, 8 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

DB and Wikiproject:Trains edit

I've left a comment about the possible integration of DB related articles into Wikiproject:Trains on Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Trains. As you seem a recent contributor to the DB articles, your comments on the subject are most welcome. --Doco 19:17, 5 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Asking for a review edit

Hello... I am quite new to Wikipedia (only about 10 edits) and I wrote my first article today. Would you mind reviewing it? I'd be really pleased. The article is quite short and thoroughly researched. It is about a Rector of a University of Applied Sciences in Germany: Draft:Anne Lequy. Some citations and sources are in German but this shouldn't be a problem for you since you are a German native too. I really took a lot of time to make this draft, so it turned out quite good (I think). I would love to hear your suggestions for improvement! Since I am German too, you could give comments and suggestions in German. (Also: I love your overuse of userboxes.) Lmqay (talk) 21:11, 27 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
